Who is the better Overal player?

What's wrong with this picture? 8 posts with 8 votes, 4 votes each, and everyone that posted says Millsap is better Pesonally I believe Al is the better overall player. If you ask me before the year started I would've said Millsap. Al has grown more as a player in the almost 2 years he's been with Utah then the previous 5 or 6 years with Boston and Min. Utah actually knows how to develop players, and teach them how to contribute to a winning team. Al is starting to learn this, and have a feeling if we were to keep Al he'd be even better next year. With that said Favors will soon pass up both Millsap and Jefferson, so Al needs to go just like Dantley had to go to make room for a young up and coming Malone.

Sap is more versatile. He can score more effectively facing up and hitting jumper and has a little better range. Smaller that Jeff. Better defender and passer. Not as selfish.

I'd probably still take Sap if they were both making 10M/year. But it's close.

I disagree with Millsap having a better face up game. Millsap is Quicker then Al obviously, and has some guard skills that helps him a lot, but more often then not he settles for an out of control 15 to 18 ftfadeaway that just has little chance at going in. Al also has a very good face up game. Al doesn't have to rely on wild fadaways thanks to his size, he also is very good using ball fakes that unable him to drive in closer for layups and dunks. To me Al has a more efficient face up game then Millsap.

I really like Al and Millsap, butt the writing is on the wall one of them will be gone by at least the end of next season. The challenge becomes which one can we keep for less money. I'm leaning towards Millsap because I think he would be the easier of the two to be our sixth man when Kanter is ready to start.

Al is a good player despite his flaws, but Millsap is a flat out beast.

Adjusted +/- last two years:

2011
Al: -4.08
Paul: +11.56 (10th best in league)

2012
Al: -0.47
Paul: +10.97 (4th best in league)
 
Sap is having one of his killer runs again. Hard to vote against him.

Big Al is putting up monsters again and it is more than obvious how much he has taught Favors. I don't want the Jazz to trade him anymore because of that. Favors is raw offensively and AJ is the guy who can put him in the All Star game for Watson's 10 years.
 
Al is a more valuable player than Millsap. He has one skill that Sap does not have - and it is a rare commodity. He can be handed the ball and be expected to score. That is a rare capability. Al was given the ball and posting up so much early in the season to get the 'reps' needed to be able to be maximally reliable late in the season. someone in some thread has noted that Big Al is a changed man, and attributed that to Jazz org being able to develop a big man. I agree with this.

Millsap's game is more diverse. Millsap plays better D on guys his size. In playoffs where there is scheduled rest between games, Big Al's D will be better. I believe he is coached to not go all out on D. The way he plays D is not hidden from the coaches. He's being saved (energy wise) for his man-to-man scoring abilty at the end of the game. And because of this, his scoring is more consistent than Millsap's. Both have been reasonably consistent on rebs. Both have sub .500 shooting %.

Factoring in the $ and the ability to pair with Favors and Kanter makes the decision quite difficult. But ultimately Big Al demands doubles. When does sap demand that? That single skill is what has him getting double $$ compared to Millsap.

The lack of anything else is why the Jazz got him for the assets they left on the curb for pickup (which was the best offer the Wolves got).

If I'm the Twolves watching what Al is doing this year I have to ask myself how much better the team would be with a stretch 4 and a center who commands doubles and triples.

Who is now passing like he never had. TW fans have to be thinking this was not a good trade.
 
Do you honestly think Al would be as good now had he stayed with the Wolves. I would be curious to see what our team would be like had we not traded for Al. Would we still have Matthews, would we have still traded Deron, would Deron have recruited D12 to come to Ut. Fun to think about and speculate.
 
Al or Sap.....Mansap or Big Al......Milsap or Al Jefferson.....Milslapped or Big Al'd..

So many choices
