What's new

Game Thread: Utah Jazz @ NO Hornets. 6pm MST.

I really don't see the Jazz getting both picks this year. Right now it looks like the Jazz will keep their own pick and lose out on the GS pick. GS was in tank mode when they traded Ellis. Personally I think David Stern should give us the GS pick without protection to send a strong message to teams that obvious tanking. How can you not make a case for it? The owner of the team promise's the GS fans that they are working on getting their pick back. Shortly after that the team has gone on this losing streak. Sounds fishy to me.

Tell you what, Eric Gordon is a stud. There's a lot of Deron Williams in him, and that first step is just ridiculous. He has amazing court vision as well. Stone blooded killer.

My trepidation with Rivers was his not being a PG but rather a 6'4" SG.
Eric Gordon is a 6'3" SG and yet he is awesome.

I don't mean to compare the two - I don't have enough info to feel comfortable doing that. All I'm saying is having a guy who can hit big shots would be pretty sweet. And hopefully that guy can play PG, but if not so be it.

NOTE: I'm still of the opinion Jazz should use their SECOND lottery pick (if they get it) on whatever GUARD is left (Marshall, Lillard, Rivers).

Sorry that I am late to this party. Eric Gordon. Let me just share my thought on him. He has a quick first step. He also has a shot that you have to respect. He also has a mean streak in him. He also has a willingness to take over games. He is not the best ball handler but good enough. He certainly is not a point guard but he has a good enough b-ball IQ to know when to distribute.

I bring all of this up because I honestly believe that Rivers will be just as good. Rivers has all the same tendencies and abilities as Gordon. When the game was close late the Hornets didn't even use a PG. I can see Rivers being able to do the same thing. I have never given up on him.

If you like Eric Gordon you will like Rivers.

Anyone else notice, I think Hayward played the whole game somewhat hurt.

After his collision in the first few minutes hec ould not run like normal and many times on free throws was rubbing his backside.

Hope he is OK.

I assume just a deep bruise which will hurt like hell today.

One of the worst games I've watched this year. The 'pass the ball down low and stand around' offense was in full effect last night, and surprise, we lose. I lost count of how many times Milsap or Jefferson got doubled down low and butchered the easy pass, often with a wide open Hayward standing right there (seriously, he should have had 5 open threes this game at least). The Hornets made us waste shot clock time and time again resulting in crappy shots with <5 seconds left on the shot clock. Our defense was pathetic. Stopping a guy like Eric Gordon requires a team effort, and we put in none whatsoever. Not to mention how badly Jefferson got abused by Kaman. I can only hope we get rid of Jefferson in the off-season, I am just tired of how this team plays with him on the floor. Even if he gets his 20 on effecient numbers it still doesn't feel like it's worth it.

Jazz are heading toward the worst possible scenario. GS tanks to keep their pick. Jazz fight but just miss the playoffs, ensuring a 13-14 pick.

I agree. It was obvious Ty preached pound it low. Even though they just beat the Rockets NOT doing that.

We are a fun team to watch. We are young. But TY has cost us at least 5 games this year.

With our Talent , we should have been the 5 or 6 seed.

If anyone needs a micro-cosm of why I and many others choose keeping Millsap over Jefferson (if the choice has to be made, and I think it does), watch last night's game.

This is Paul Millsap's team. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about how good this team is (or not), I don't know what will.

What does Ty have to do with the Pacers or Bulls? Are you aware that both of those teams are sitting above the 5th spot in the east?

Millsap has become one of my favorite players in franchise history. The argument for trading him and keeping Al is...just...too...hard...to...comprehend.

...sounds like your describing the A typical nightly NBA game these days! Heck, there's only about 4 or 5 teams in the entire league that DON'T play that way!
