Next Season - What do we want ?

I'll be honest, I am unsure the number of 1st and second round picks we have this year, but I would trade them.

My opinion on what we need.

1) Experienced PG , I do not want to invest in developing another rookie.
2) 3 pt sharpshooter. Doesn't even need to be a starter on the team , but we need 1 or 2.

Other Observations:
1) Favors & Hayward - Love them both. I hope we can keep both. BTW, how do rookie contracts work. I know we picked up year 3 on Hayward last year so we have hoim next year, is year 4/5 Hayward/Favors option or ours .

2) Burks & Kanter - Honestly, a little concerned on both. Kanter - When I found out he played more basketball games this year than in his life, I was worried. Both from a love of the gamer perspective & durability.

Burks - Has raw talent but he doe snot have an attribute that stands out to me. I am actually one who does not like his ego. Especially when his talent can't write the check his mouth talks. I think that is what KOC was talking about a few weeks ago.

I would use our current picks plus Burks for trade bait to get a veteran PG.

I think Favors/Hayward will be special and would not even entertain a trade for them. I also think they ae both humble/shy enough that they may actually sign their 1st post rookie deal and stay in Utah.

I am happy to see someone start a thread like this.

I agree about getting a PG. Rondo is looking better and better to me. Jefferson and the GS pick plus a second round pick. Enough?
Draft a sharpshooter.

My biggest concern for next year will be minute distribution. This is how I would like to see it happen (based on the current roster):

PG: Harris 22 mpg, Watson/Tinsley 13 mpg each
SG: Hayward 18 mpg, Burks 25 mpg, Anyone else 5 mpg
SF: Millsap 16 mpg, Hayward 18 mpg, Carrol 14 mpg
PF: Favors 22 mpg, Millsap 20 mpg, Kanter 6 mpg
C: Jefferson 25 mpg, Favors 13 mpg, Kanter 10 mpg

These are the minutes to start the season ans by the end of the season I would like to see Hayward playing 35-38 mpg, Favors 35-38 mpg, Millsap 32 mpg, Kanter 20 mpg, Burks 30 mpg. I am not going to get to stuck on this becuase I know that I will be disappointed.

What do "we" want next season? Judging from many of the posts on this board, "we" want the Jazz to get more good young players through the Lottery because losing in the first round would be bad.

Agree with Thriller, except for Jefferson, only if we can get something of equal value in a trade. I like Burks and feel he will eventually be better than Hayward, that is if he works on his game. He certainly has the talent -- speed to burn, great hops, and great instinct on getting to the rim and drawing contact. I'm conflicted on whether to keep CJ, but if not we need a three-point shooter, which CJ could be if he were more consistent.

What is your definition of equal value for Jefferson?

If CJ is not consistent at this point of his career, it is time to let him go. He is not worth spending time or money on at this point.

I'm with the OP on Burks. I've kept quite while people act like he's the best rookie on the roster because I don't see it. I have been expecting to catch a glimpse of his wonderfulness and I'll I really see is a price with more size and maybe a little or maybe significantly more talent. Seems like he could be a solid bench player if he figures out he hasn't done anything to justify any arrogance.

I want to see the "new" Jazz era start next year in full. Favors, Kanter, Hayward. Need to move Jefferson and figure out how Millsap is going to fit wit our young core.

CJ has had two years too many to become what many though he could become. He is what he is at this point, which is to say, not much.

What do we want?

Picks.

And when do we want them?

Now.

What are we doing?

Rebuilding.

And how do we do it?

The draft.

Respectfully disagree. Use our picks and maybe Burks/Evans/Jefferson to get the star PG and outside shooter.

We have enough youth already.

I think that is a BAD idea. I don't condone giving up draft picks in what is essentially viewed as one of the deepest drafts in recent memory.

New coach.

Outside shooting.

Trade involving whatever pick(s) we have because we seem to have trouble finding playing time for all our current young'uns, let alone two more young guys.

I would trade Harris, draft a young PG and pick up a semi-veteran PG in the off season. I would probably draft Lillard if I could.
I would plan to keep Jefferson until at least mid-season next year, unless a great offer comes in for him.
I would draft a scorer in the first round this year (e.g., Lamb, Rivers, T. Jones, etc.) and a defensive bully in the second round.
I would build a team identity around tough defense and balance on offense.

Draft the bSFa, trade Al for Rondo .. ahh, nevermind.

Trade Al for Rondo. Draft Terrence Jones. Find a way to pick up Jodie Meeks. Trade Millsap for Patrick Patterson. Trade Hayward for Prince. Trade Watson and Tinsley for Knight. Sign Jamaal Magloire as a backup.

Funny, really. I do really like Rondo. I've never said we should draft Jones .. or even MKG. So ...... **** you. <---- weird, wonder why L-O-V-E is censored??
