I can't complain about the GSW pick...

... when we lucked out last year and went from picking 6th to picking 3rd. Meaning we went from picking Vesely, Biyombo, Knight and Walker to picking up a real keeper in Enes Kanter.

So if we don't get the GSW pick this year I won't be complaining... we have more than enough talent (for at least next year anyway) to compete for the playoffs again taking into account the growth of Favors/Hayward as well as Burks/Kanter.

A new rookie might even be too much for a distraction... and taking valuable coaching time away from our 3rd/2nd year guys.

Not only that, but the last thing we need is another trade asset. The Jazz are probably way too good already, and if they got any better, it would probably make the team worse, because the coaches would get a headache from having too many good players blah blah blah...

I've enjoyed almost every one of your posts. Good stuff.

Two non-lottery picks in a **** draft is probably better than two lottery picks in a very deep draft. You're right.

I appreciate the PMA. But...

This.

The Jazz don't need to get any better right now. A couple of crap picks a year later would clearly be more valuable. Clearly.

Just for clarification, we will end up with GSW's 1st rounder next year. I suspect we'll have theirs at around 15'ish and our own in roughly the same neighborhood.

Unless miracles happen today vs Minny, I think the pick is long gone.

All I'm trying to say is how blessed we are to have had the 3rd pick last year instead of ending up with the likes of Biyombo & Vesely.

Plus we still get their pick next year. And with Bogut and Curry coming off surgeries I don't think the pick will be all that bad neither. I'd still expect GSW to be in the lottery again next year. No question in my mind.

But I want them to get Kendall Marshall....the PG depth is low next year, he and Lilliard may be the best to come out in 2+ years

Your forgetting our secret weapon. I think he once played backup to Stockton. I'm confident GS will be in the lottery next year.

No one knows. Marshall was a projected late 1st round pick at the beginning of the college season. Not many had even heard of Lillard. The top two PGs everyone was talking about, Teague and Kabongo, turned out to be duds (relative to the hype).

True. But the prospects are truly dim. I said two years ago that we will need to trade for our future PG are get them in FA. We good be a good enough team, imo, to make getting a good FA plausible.

I'd say that's a definite.

I wonder if KOC recognizes that and reacts. It's very important that we get a young PG right now. Having him practice with The Four as much as possible is vital. The sooner we have our Five, the sooner we can prepare for a serious title run.

Far from a given. This all depends on the health of two guys who seem probable to continue with injury problems. If they stay healthy, you're probably right. If not, another tank job is very likely.

I would prefer it. If 2013 is rubbish and 2014 is better, anyway.
