A question for people who want the Jazz to lose:
For how long? There will surely be people making an argument for tanking and picks next year, and probably the year after. Look at the teams in the lottery--the same teams who are always in the lottery. Making the playoffs this year (and hopefully getting the GS pick) could be much healthier for the franchise in the long run than a back-lottery pick we don't need.

I think by now, most would rather win. If they do lose though, we get a lottery pick. Not a bad consolation prize.

The thing I'm most anxious to see tonight is to see which of our players can play under pressure. Alot of the Jazz have been in "pressure situations," but fewer have been in "pressure games." You see pressure do strange things to some pretty good players, some play tight, some play overconservative, and some play desperate to the point that desperation makes them lose their focus.
I want to see who can play their game, stay under-control but also play with the type of urgency the magnitude of this game contains. And in the off-chance one of our guys shows the competitive greatness to elevate his game, all the more beneficial to the future of this team.
Unless someone has a clear "deer-in-the-headlights" look, I think the worst thing Ty could do is cut back the minutes of our young players (Favors, Burks, Kanter, Carroll) because this is the type of experience that will make them all better players in the long-haul, regardless of the outcome. I expect Al, Sap, Harris to all play big minutes - I just hope Ty doesn't rely too much on them if we face a little adversity early on.
Either way, tonight is a great opportunity to gauge just how mentally tough alot of our players are.

I'm a firm believer that the greater value is in keeping our pick, but in no way can I root against our guys when they've fought so hard down the stretch to put themselves in this position. And now with Shaq runnin' his big, fat, stupid mouth, and Barkley taking us over his suns, I really want to see Shaq put in his place once again by Sir Charles.

I'm not rooting for them to lose, but this has become a really tired argument, and it's complete BS. Utah is not going to turn into the Warriors, just because we miss the playoffs by a game. We'll still have a winning record. It's just flat-out ridiculous to suggest that THIS team is suddenly going to have a losing mentallity if they barely miss the playoffs. All it will do is leave them hungry to make sure they make them next year, much like getting their *** kicked in the first round would leave them hungry to fight for HC in the 1st round next year. People on this board just have to use extreme examples to try and make their point, even though this Jazz team doesn't fit that mold in the least. This is a team with a winning mentality, regardless of what happens with the playoffs.
As for people rooting for a tank next year, I seriously doubt it will be more than maybe one or two people. Anyone who has been paying attention, should know that the idea of tanking this year has everything to do with a particularly deep draft, and it's not just Jazz fans, but practically league-wide.
Enough of this already, also. It's a trade asset. There's no such damn thing as having too many trade chips.

I would say every game has been like that more or less since the home Spurs game. Culminates tonight though and this one will be more intense. It's put up or pack up time, especially for my boy Al. He's got to have a good game.
