Ty Lawson is a top 5 point guard in the NBA

An ideal fit for the Jazz. Would be a dream come true.

1. Deron
2. Rose
3. CP3
4. Westbrook
5. Lawson
6. Rondo

*disclaimer* I understand that Parker is No. 1 on that list for this season, but he's only got a few more years (tops) at this level.

Is this an attempt at humor?

No. He gets into the paint at will, is an excellent finisher (both in the halfcourt and transition), gets up and down the floor faster than just about anyone in the league with the ball in his hands and his perimeter game has really improved each year he's been in the league.

Looks like you and Cyrone haven't seen him play enough, or don't understand the game.

For one, you have him ahead of Rondo. Sooooooo there goes the whole top 5 thing. Nash is still better than Lawson. Tony Parker is infinitely better than Lawson. He is probably around 8,9,10 .... maybe.

Nash is retiring in a few years, and wasn't effective as Lawson this year. Stats don't tell the whole story. He's limited by minutes due to his age. If you saw my disclaimer, Parker was the best PG in the league this season but he's also only got a few years left at that level.

I would take Lawson over Rondo because as we've seen in prior postseasons teams dare Rondo to shoot. They leave him unguarded, basically, when he's out on the perimeter. To me, you can't be classified as an elite level point guard if your shooting is so poor that teams just guard you 5 feet off the ball. Furthermore, they defeated Atlanta without him while he was suspended.

Whatever weaknesses Lawson had coming into the league, he's vastly improved since he's been in. He's far more complete than Rondo and has the youth and physical ability to continue his ascension.

He is a better shooter, Rondo is a better passer, defender, rebounder, a triple double machine. Rondo can score, he just can't shoot the three. His 15-18 foot jumper has gotten much better. To say Lawson is more complete because he is a better shooter is inaccurate
