Mayweather v. Cotto

I don't think Hagler, Toney or Jones ever fought Welterweight - at least not in their primes.

I love Thomas Hearns but Mayweather would destroy him. Hearns was a great, great puncher but a very flawed fighter.

Sugar Ray/Mayweather would be a much better fight - but I saw Leonard get hurt many times in his career. I have no doubt Mayweather would handle him.

Hmm. In all honesty, I've only seen the replays of the fights on ESPN classic, since I did't grow up in that era; however, I definitely think that both Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard could give PBF a run for his money, especially with Leonard's jabbing game. If De La Hoya managed a split-decision with him, I can't see how Leonard couldn't accomplish more

Also, I never registered that you were talking about a complete welterweight-fighter. It seemed to me that you were applying that title to Floyd regardless of weight-classes.

Seriously though: if Marvelous and PBF ever had a hypothetical catch weight fight, Hagler would annihilate him.

My Dad bought a hot box back in the 80's so I saw all those great pay-per-view fights in the late 80/early 90's for free. I didn't see Leonard or Hearns in their prime live but I've seen enough to say Mayweather can beat them both. The Mayweather - De La Hoya split decision was a complete travesty. Mayweather kicked his *** for 12 rounds - the judge that gave De La Hoya the points is a disgrace. I guess they don't call Oscar the Golden Boy for nothing.

It's hard to compare Mayweather to fighters in hypothetical match-ups above his weight class because he's not a big power puncher. But pound for pound I would say he's the best I've seen being I've never seen him in a fight where he didn't dominate. The way he just breaks down his opponent is nothing short of masterful.

Then why is he delaying the Paciowh fight?

We'll have to agree to disagree, then. Only fight so far that has "impressed" me more than Pacquiao, was his fight against Juan manuel Marquez. His victories against Hatton, De La Hoya, Cotto, etc. were seriously less impressive than Manny's victories against them. Leonard's victories against the fighters he matched up against were MUCH more impressive than Mayweather's resume.

I am just desperately jonesing for this fight to go down over the next year. I'd lose my mind from excitement.

$$$$$

It'll happen.

Please. Mayweather knows that no one has a better shot of tarnishing his meaningless undefeated record than Manny. Rocky Marciano was undefeated as well; I still wouldn't slot him as one of the top 5 best all-time fighters.

Yeah, we all know Rocky Balboa is #1.

Mayweather tipped his hand the other day when he started going off on Pac-Man's promoters. Like everything else this is all about money. Sooner or later he'll get a guaranteed dollar amount that he likes and it will happen.
