What's new

CrossFit

Alright, so I p90'ed for about a year or so and saw some pretty good results. With the general stresses of grad skool and life I have tapered off in the past 4 months or so. I had some friends in town from Florida and I've been a sloppy mess these last few days and I've noticed that I've softened up a bit since the pinnacle of my p90 days. I figured I'd just start p90'ing again to get back into shape, but my friend from Florida has been telling me about CrossFit. She says it's better than p90 and is more about muscle building than leaning out.

Here's a video

I am a little intimidated to try but my friend says that the workouts are tailored to your needs and that the people there are super cool. Also, it's a great place to meet people.

So has anyone here tried CrossFit? Any opinions or insights would be great!

I crossfitted for two years. Its a great workout but make sure you maintain good form. Its all about how many Olympic style lifts you can do in a certain time. Ive seen a lot of minor injuries and a few very serious injuries in two years. Fran is my favorite workout.

I did it for awhile, it is really really intense, a great workout. The only problem that I found, other than it being to hard for me, was that if you don't go to a crossfit gym, which is really expensive, you can't find some of the equipment that they use for their workouts. Also since it is a circuit style program it is hard to complete in a busy gym where you need a few stations. Other than that it will get you into great shape.

This is exactly what I recommended in Dalamon's thread about gaining weight. Concentrate on the three big lifts and you'll be in better shape and gain weight. Squat, bench & dead lift will do wonders.

Yeah, I a crossfit gym just opened up in my hometown and I was looking at it for the summer. Just more money than I'm willing to spend.

They do have 1 free session, so if I can convince a friend to come along I may give it a go.

looks like a lot of stuff I'd get sick of quick.

Other than weightlifting 5x a week I do two exercises.

Full court b-ball 3x per week.

Crunches and sit-ups on an exercise ball. I use the old school Herschel Walker method. Instead of sitting on the couch while watching TV, I sit on the exercise ball and do crunches. During a basketball game or football game I'll do 400-600 crunches. Pretty much all I need.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I just never think that doing as many Olympic style lifts (squats, cleans, etc) as you can in a time limit is a good idea. Obviously it will give you one hell of a workout, but there's just too much of a risk for injury IMO.

I'm sorry, but my Mtn. Dew diet does not allow this type of exercise. Good luck though, dick face.

But don't you have that Benjamin Franklin body type?

Benny Frank is a historical womanizer.

True, the dude had intellect, wit, and charm... during a recent trip to mickey dees, my man Candrew tried to boof but SHARTED instead. In addition, he has gained 36 pounds and has continued to habitually sleep with his shirt off.
