WI Gubernatorial Recall

In addition, if I go to a doctor and don't like something about them I can go get a second opinion or change doctors.

Depending on your health insurance, that second opinion may have to come entirely out of your pocket.

Also, if you don't like a particular teacher, you can often get your kid moved to another classroom in the same school.

Another bad example. A doctor is licensed by the state to practice medicine. A teacher is licensed by....no one.

In what state is that? In the states where I have lived, teachers had to be certified, and had to renew those certifications by showing continuing education.

So why can't a public school get the same kind of teachers? I know it's not like this in most cases, but at my school, our teachers were all paid less than the teachers at local public schools.

Private schools self-select, and can gear their curiculum accordingly. Public schools have to take everyone. When private schools agree to take all students (such as charter schools), they do not out-perform public schools overall.

I don't quite agree. You hear stories of people overcoming poverty and or f'd up homes to become all the time.

Teachers are not judged by their best student only. Say "Person X did this, so those other 999 people should do it to" is victim-blaming.

"This message is hidden because One Brow is on your ignore list. "

I am even more thankful for ignoring him. Good god

I am greatly appreciative of the bravery, the intellectual fortitude, and the complete lack of spite involved in not only putting someone on the ignore list, but annoucing that to the entire board as a triumphant decision. Well done, sir!

Yeah, people should never strive to better themselves even if they were born in a bad situation...... Like Stoked, I am on the verge of ignoring your generally stupid and predictable responses to everything. If you want to question my bravery for it, so be it. I just don't feel like wasting anymore time reading your opinions.

Haha, get him. Listening/not listening to someones idiotic political grandstanding when they have no sincere desire to actually discuss anything and only want to attack and belittle (my personal experience with him) has nothing to do with bravery or anything else.

When peole are not given the resources to better their situation, the vast majority will fail, while a few succeed. This is not an indictment of the victims, depite your bluster and mischaricterizations.

Perhaps my responses are predictable because you substitute your own verson of an argument, instead of reading what I actually posted? I can see no other explanation for you claiming that I said people whould not strive to better themselves.

Works for me. Make sure to announce it in every thread, as well.

My problem is the union forcing themselves on the market which drives up costs for everyone and artificially inflates the market.

Are you saying unions allow business owners to charge higher prices that they are giving up in the absence of unions?

Unions are very anti-capatalistic and very monopolistic.

More like anti-feudalistic. America has a concept of checks and balances. Unions are a great check on the power of capital within our capitalistic system. Capital =/= capitalism.

And hell yes I want policies that benefit me and hurt you? What am I supposed to do? Want policies that benefit you and hurt me? The way general population thinks of us teachers, just be happy I don't wish harm upon you.

How about voting for the rule of law and a system not designed for gaming and political favoring?

1. Teacher unions lobby against vouchers. That takes away my ability to potentially send my child to a better school.

It takes away no such thing. What it does is limit the opportunities provided by taxpayers to those taxpayers choose to provide. I agree it is a problematic conflict of interest, however.

If it was up to me, private schools would be illegal, along with home schooling.

You're a little off the deep end.

I guess that's what makes you Americans different from the rest of the world. I am quite okay with forcing a few to suffer for the good of the many.

Your opinion wants those who don't fit into your mold to suffer. You are apparently completely comfortable leaving behind everyone who doesn't learn well inside your one size fits all system.

Wait, so then if I have a chance to better my salary and my working conditions, I should not take it because it hurts you?

You sound like a dog eat dog member of the dark ages.

Nada. I think One Brow hacked my account so Stroked to circumvent Stroked's ignore list.

He is fairly butthurt that I won't listen to his insane rambling.

I still wish I had picked Stroked
