This is WORSE than when they banned our pal JC.

Mods, I never complain about y'all, but this is a travesty

It was a dupe account...honestly, it's the one time I argued for a dupe account (though by then the vote was taken). I loved crittercam.

How can a duplicate account go unnoticed for so long, then all of the sudden discovered?

Whatever detector Jason uses caught it on his 5th post. Maybe he got past it the other times, hell if I know. He actually hit twice, and the first time it just slid down the list without being resolved and I made no effort to resolve it, since I thought it was damn hilarious.
 
The Team is tight lipped about who the duplicates belong to.

You consciously let this one go but killed Satan after one post? Bang up job. Shouldn't you be a little more tight lipped about your broad use of moderating discretion?

Yes, I consciously let it slide.

No, I don't care, otherwise I wouldn't have said it. I would wager 10% or so of reports slide and don't get resolved because a couple people vote, other mods don't see it, and new reports push it down. There's not even that much discretion involved other than me not harping that it get resolved.

Satan was killed because everyone had voted and killed it.

EDIT: And actually it didn't even go down as I said it did. I just researched it and I remembered it a bit wrong (surprise surprise!). What happens with dupe accounts is that they just get banned immediately, though a PM is sent to the original poster and they're asked about it (I got mixed up with the voting on it because a vote is taken on the original poster for making the account). Jason dealt with it and banned the dupe, and in this case I said something to the effect of "damn, I get banning dupe accounts and all but crittercam was one of my favorites." The first time Jason sent the PM, maybe he never got anything back and probably forgot about it. And it's there where I made no effort to remind anyone about it.

So in essence there was no vote and my "defense" was more of a pout.

I don't care much either and thank you for the additional info. I still think it would be better to stay a little more tight lipped about these things though. You're begging for problem children if you put on the appearance of being unfair, no matter how loved/overblown Crittercam was.


One question though: why did it take everyone to vote down Satan instead of the usual three? J/K
