2012 Draft: Predraft Camps & Workouts

There was a guy on realGM on the 76ers page who claims to be an insider to the organization (everyone there believes him)
He said that a Big Al + Watson for Iggy deal was in the works. Not sure if it's happened or if we have any updates, but it was probably the most exciting thing to happen this offseason other than Dee Bost working out.

This guy said that during the same period that I was told the Jazz are talking with PHI .. but I had no details, at all. I would like to think Al was a real possibility there.

Yep, so there's correlation between both of our insider guys which made the trade even more exciting.

That Philly insider was saying these conversations have been happening for weeks, but they'd be left unfinished (obviously) until the draft and draft-day trade opportunities really took shape.

There was another insider blog that quoted the Philly CEO as saying they wanted to move Iguodala and were open to moving Turner. They think Iggy is their best player, but feel like this is the last, best chance to trade him. They're disappointed that Turner isn't a better shooter, and they don't know where to play him. So, Philly is trying to move players out--primarily Iguodala and Turner. They think their pick at #15 gives them a "fighting chance" to get an impact player, but they're not sold on it. I'll see if I can find a link to this.

They've been working out bigs like Moultrie and Perry Jones. Separately, they're holding a solo workout with Marquis Teague.

Iggy or turner?

The Sixers were discussing Iggy for Jefferson/Watson. The feeling among their fans over there is that if Philly can't trade Iggy for a lotto pick (Sac #5 or GSW #7), that Utah deal is a greater possibility. Just speculation. The original rumor was Iguodala/Jefferson, not Turner.

It would probably make sense for the Sixers at least to do this deal during the draft, as it would then allow them to figure out what to do with their #15 pick and/or Evan Turner.

Philly wants a big who can score in the post. They're not confident that they can get that type of player at #15. They've been interested in Jefferson and Pau Gasol for a while, but Jefferson is younger and still improving.

That too is consistent.

If that deal happened, it could also become a 3-way pretty easily. If Philly wasn't excited about the player available at #5 or #7 (I think they'd like Drummond and MKG, maybe Barnes), the Jazz could be brought in:

Jazz move Jefferson/Watson - get lotto pick (#5 or #7) and a player - Garcia or ?? from GSW
Philly moves Iguodala - gets Jefferson/Watson

GSW moves #7/player - gets Iguodala

SAC moves #5/Garcia - gets Iguodala

So, in plain English, Philly plans to move Iguodala. If they can move him to Sactown for Sac's #5 pick (Drummond, MKG, Barnes), they would. If Philly isn't sold on the player available at #5 or #7 (and the Jazz are), they trade Iggy, but receive Jefferson/Watson from the Jazz. The Jazz then decide if they want to keep Iggy or move him to Sac or GSW for a lotto pick and a player.

This way, the Jazz would move Jefferson and get a lotto pick in return. Not bad. Philly improves. Sac/GSW improves. Jazz get a potential impact player. They may have to absorb a contract at the same time.

Which insider guy would win in a fight, ours or theirs?

Oooh, Kentuckian vs. Philly guy ..

He'd pull out a gun, I'd pull out a pint of moonshine and a good lookin' cousin .. he lays down his gun, gets drunk, passes out, and wakes up to a pot leaf tat as a tramp stamp.

Wow great stuff here I want josh maggette. He would be a great 3rd pg. he has potential to be a good pg.

What??? You sound like you genuinely like Josh Maggette but gave him a crappy outlook. Every college PG should AT least be a great 3rd PG. We are talking Blake Ahearnian levels here.

Josh Magette (one G actually, though Utah listed him with two). I just ant him for the story of having a nobody make a NBA roster. Did PKM even know who he was?

Sorry use to spelling it with 2 Gs. True great story and to be honest I like his game slow shot but has range.

Just like all you clowns here believe PKM is an insider. Pathetic. "The field's medal! The field's medal!"
