You posted several quotes from me, none of which claim anything was rigged.

And yet you not so cleverly omitted the fact that I said:

Again, I ask, what specifically did the LDS Church influence, help, rig, whatever, to get Hatch in?

Within that culture there are people with a lot of influence, whom I suppose make a lot of the decisions behind closed doors (that's an assumption I'm making and I have no intention to provide proof, as I have none.

Enough said.

Seriously, that explains it.

And many folks had assumptions that Jews had horns, Mormons baptized corpses, Women who could read were witches, etc.... Making assumptions without any proof or intentions of providing proof isn't exactly a good way to

A. Encourage civil or educated discussion
B. Prove any point other than you're an angry/bitter person who wishes to take cheap shots/promote an agenda/blow off steam.

And yet, you have the gall to call me naive and childish. Amazing.

Which one do the power brokers running LDS corp. like better?

Here's a hint. Seniority in the senate matters.
This is probably my most offensive post and maybe what got your panties in a bunch.

The LDS church makes a lot of money, has a lot of power and controls local politics. They're good at it, so I assume they know how to play the game. The people running the church are by and large the people running local business. The people running the church are by and large the people running local politics. Take offense to that if you'd like.

Here's a few biased links, but it's all I could come up with after spending 30 seconds looking.

I was stating why I don't vote in local politics, because my voice is drowned out by a larger dominant culture. Where's the conspiracy?

Nice b.s. move from "power brokers" to "dominant culture."

You don't think there are power brokers within the LDS church who influence local politics?

I figure that whatever person gets support from the LDS church is going to win

I've addressed this three times. Let me sum it up again. I don't have any specifics. I never looked for any and I don't care to. I told you I didn't even know his challenger's name. I was never trying to prove that point.

Again, for the third or fourth time, I'm expressing why I don't vote... because I don't think it matters as the dominant culture will make the decisions and I'll live with the results.

You want to yell over and over that I'm trying to say something that I'm not saying. That doesn't mean I have to take the position you've handed me and defend it. I have no intention to defend it as it was never my position.

You want to "win" these arguments so badly, but I'm not arguing. What you've said about me is true. I have no proof. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed about that because my goal was to express why I don't vote. I've done that.

OK, let's play elementary school.

Do you think there are powerful people inside the LDS church who have influence over local politics? Yes or no.

I really don't feel like arguing with someone who is merely looking to take cheap shots at a particular religion who relies on assumptions and has no intentions of providing proof. Only an idiot could imagine that type of discussion going anywhere.

And in the interest of full disclosure and intellectual honesty I am resentful of the control I perceive the LDS church has over local politics. I'm not a fan of the LDS church or it's doctrine.

So quit trying to score points proving things I'm not denying.

Dude, I proved what I wanted to prove...My opinion, which I shared. End of ****ing story. I never wanted to discuss this with you and never set out to win any arguments. You put me on the defensive and I fell for it attempting to defend myself against your attacks. I should have just left it alone from the beginning, but you're such an arrogant jerk in the way you attack me I felt compelled to respond.

Besides that, we're way off from the thread topic and I apologize to the OP for that.

You mean these dudes?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's that German guy who is running things locally with all the tithing monies and is in cahoots with Glenn Beck on a national political level.
They probably have code words in Sacrament Meeting to tell their followers which of the Mormons running they should vote for.

I asked if there are people who have influence. You don't have to answer.
