What's new

How much Portland loves Wesley Matthews!

Hey his signing bonus has been paid for and now the rest of his contract is fairly reasonable. Maybe we can trade Fes for him mid-season.

That would actually probably add about 8 million in luxury tax payments, give us 5 wings, and no real center(especially if Memo is not completely healthy). For some reason I dont see this one happening.

"blazer fan says 'you are a terrible interviewer and your beard is disgusting'"

classic.

I hate Portland. I will miss Matthews. The contract is ridiculous, a huge price and a long time. Utah made the right choice here. Matthews may look a little shell shocked, but get him on the court with some fans cheering and he'll settle in just fine I reckon.

It's almost painful watching Matthews' disappointment. I really hope he gets used to being in Portland, as attached as he is to the Jazz.

That's what happens when you don't tell your agent, I want to stay in Utah and am willing to take 4mil/yr, not the most anyone offers me. ps. And don't lie to me and tell me that KOC didn't give me an offer. Just tell me he didn't give me a max MLE deal. I would have taken that.

He knows he's riding the bench, and it's going to suck.

Nah, Wesleys da bomb.
I now expect Portland to trade Roy for CP3 to open up a spot for him. Just like last season the Blazers would have traded Aldridge if Utah hadn't matched for Millsap.

One of two things is going to happen now.
A) Portland stops screwing with us.
b) Allen is even more irate and comes at Utah hard.

Wes does look surprised. It's almost like it's hitting him now...I get more money, to come off the bench, and play less. It's all so fantastically ironic. For every other person on Earth, getting more to do less is the whole goal. He won the lottery in that department, but it's probably going to make him miserable.

Um, he's being interviewed by pasty chunk and it's being broadcast on the innernat. I'd be depressed and sick, too. But then again, I'm not making $34 BILLIONS in the next SEVENTEEN YEARS either...

i think hes pretty damn happy since he got 35 mil, last year he didn't have a contract!!! he should still be on cloud 9

I agree. He is not thrilled at all. All he can do is keep talking about how much he loved the fans and organization. I think this is all surreal to him, he never thought that the Jazz would let him leave. I wish him the best though, he will be a great role player in the league for years. He'll be back here in 5 years.

I'm a noob when it comes to trades/contracts/etc. Is there a chance we can get him back here before the 5 year mark or is he stuck in Portland no matter what?

The only way we get him back before the 5 years is up is to trade for him. Then we are stuck with his contract. If we wanted that we would have just matched his offer sheet. So in other words NO.
