Turkish People...Serious Question

Why do all of you guys hate the Armenians? What really happened there?

That question should be like "Why do all the Armenians hate Turks?". Why I'm saying this? Because Turkey is a lot more open than Armenia and there are very and vastly different opinions about our neighbor. However I can guarantee that the vast majority of Armenians(except the ones live in Turkey and they are a lot) hate anything related with the turks or the Turkey. Because basically, they believe that the turks did a massive genocide against them. They start to learn this info from their childhood in their families and in their schools.

So there is a "genocide issue" between the turks and armenians.

Simply; they believe we(our ancestors) genocided(is it a verb?) them and we believe that we didn't. As much as the conflict is simple as this, the subject is not simple by any means, so if any friend wants to discuss about it I suggest the other platforms for it.

At least I'm not gonna discuss about it, because it's well beyond me by all means.

And of course I need no expression to express that I do not hate the Armenians or any other nation.

It's going all the way back 1878 Ottoman - Russian war. Ottoman Empire residents Armenians took side of the Russian Empire because of the religious issues, and rebelled against Ottoman Empire. That caused Caucasia to divide, and Armenia was founded. Many migrations took place at that time, many people driven from their homes from Caucasia and come to Anatolia, especially to Black Sea region.

During the first world war, Armenians living in Ottoman soil rebelled again to unite with Armenia and slaughtered many Turkish citizens. Many villages were burned. Even babies were burned alive. Despite of being busy with the war taking place in the west, Ottoman Empire sent a formidable force to East Anatolia to end this slaughter. The army defeated all the Armenian militia, and Ottoman Empire exiled Armenians from their soil to south and grand migration took place.

It's estimated 3 million Turkish people was killed during the Armenian rebellion, and 1,5 million Armenians was dead because of the war, conditions during the migration such as cold, starvation and plague.

To many deaths from both sides, that is the main reason for the hatred. Ottoman Empire never did "genocide", though starvation and plague did.

I wonder what would be the reaction of the USA if 3 million of their own people was slaughtered? Exiling was the most human punishment at the time.

Edit: FYI My Grand grand father's brother was skinned alive at a town near Erzurum.

The war stories are sad, but if you want the truth, just go to Little Armenia or Glendale in the Los Angeles area and you'll find your answer. Spend 10 minutes around Armenians and you'll stop thinking Indians(as in India Indians) are the most annoying body of people in the world.

We hate armenians and that's all you need to know, tater head.

PKM, you're one of my favorite Turkish posters here. I heard that your kebab and rakı is very delicious but I didn't like your turkish delight, it's too sweet, viscous and hurts my teeth.

Anyway, I want to know the Turkish Culture better, so I have some questions to you PKM, serious of course. Thanks in advance.

  • How can you manage to live in the deserts?
  • Do you have internet over there?
  • Do you wear fez?
  • Does your wife wear hijab?
  • Did you celebrate the 9/11?

  • If I come to Turkey, would turks kidnap my kids?
  • Can you eat on the table in Turkey?
  • What's the name of the river which flows in the middle of Istanbul?
  • Did you marry in a mosque?
  • Who is the King of Turkey?
  • Do you have four Queens?
  • Do you have to grow mustache in Turkey?
  • Why are you white?
  • How come you say that Istanbul isn't the capital city of your country?
  • Do you eat turkey in Turkey? Bwahaha!

Who's home would stink the worse... a person from India or a person from Turkey?

Either way though they both smell like hell.

I know what you are talking about and have to agree. I do t dislike anyone based on where they are from, but little Armenia is one annoying place.

That being said, I'll go to Little Armenia a million more times before I die because I always see something interesting there. And the food in that area is not half bad. And there are certainly plenty of nice people. Annoying is fine as long as you have the freedom to bust tail up a few blocks and enter an almost completely different world any time you want.

The only real question is whether or not he's ever been in a Turkish prison.

Yes I totally forgot about the "Midnight Express".

I just hope we never draft an Armenian player or else all the Armenians will join this forums and start arguing with the Turks.

A Greek player is more of a possibility. But either way I don't think it would be a lot worse than your arguments about the religions.

I don't hate Armenians, never have; never will.
But Armenians, especially diaspora needs a Turkish-hate to keep the flock together.
This is an acknowledged way of nation-building process.
Other than that;
I "love" Armenians actually.
We have so much in common; even a tad exaggerated feistiness (word?) is common.
We def. have common genes as well; we have 3 Kim Kardashian clones in our street e.g. (wait they give birth to kids, they will turn into balloons like Khloe)
If you like Armenian food; you will love Turkish food.
There is this thing called "Armenian Genocide"; until those days; Armenians were seen as the "millet-i sadeeqah" (loyal nation) by the mighty Ottomans.

my rant can go like hours, but you get the point. Take a look at my nick BTW

great introductory post.
in addendum;
Armenians were not exiled per se!
The were not deported either.
They were relocated from their original place, which was then practically a battlefield, to safer places like Syria and Lebanon, which were belonging to Ottoman Empire back then.
It was an intra-Empire move, i.e..
no exile, no deportation took place.
Armenians raised two separate armies of militia; one collaborating with Russians and fighting against the Ottoman Empire within the ranks of Ruskies Empire; tha is from without the Empire!
Second army operated within the Empire and organized raids etc.

EDIT: It is impossible that 1.5 million Armenians were killed, because there were not this high a number of Armenians living in the regions concerned.
again; Turkish official stance is that Armenians as well as moslem locals (Kurds, Turks, Circassians, what not) were killed in inter-ethnicities skirmishes. No denial in there, official position, however, firmly denies that there was a government plan to eradicete Amrnians form the regions, hence you can not see those unfortunate events as a genocide. whynot? to reiterate; there was no plan-conspiracy to kill a certain ethnic-religious-national entity then (which is the mens rea of the alleged culprit in the crime of genocide according to International Criminal Law).

In addition; the crime of genocide was coined after WWII and the convention was adopted in 1948. You cannot enforce law retrospectively.

All in all; people died back then. May they all rest in peace; be they Christian, Moslem and others!
