No BYU-Utah Rivalry Football Games in 2014 or 2015

Out of curiosity, what teams should've replaced BYU in 1984? I'd say Florida and Washington are the only ones that merit consideration (given they were 1-loss teams plus a tie for Florida). However, screw Florida because of 100+ violations for which they were on probation for (ie they were cheating at the time or caught cheating or whatever). I like Washington (even though they didn't even win their conference title) especially because they beat OKC. I think they were the team with the best chance to beat BYU. However, screw them because they turned down #1-ranked BYU's offer to settle it on the field. Sackless money-chasing and it burned them as it should have.

I'm sure you could argue others but I'm not a big fan of crowning 2-loss national champs.

BYU has been in discussions with the Big 12 and Pac for decades. We went over this. I've never mentioned invites. That's you honks jumping the gun as usual.
Again do you have any proof? Or are you just assuming it because your a typical BYU fan.

Nice back tracking. You stated they could have been in a bigger conference years ago. You were asked for proof. You produce an article that is anything but proof. An article that indicates that the conference you seem to think is interested has little to no interest.

So again. Do you have any actual proof?

Or will you just back pedal some more?
So it's your position that bigger conferences (in this case the Pac 10 and Big 12) were never interested in BYU? Is that a correct statement to make?

Sorry, 3rd placer. After finishing the 1984 season 13-0, BYU was ranked number one by the Associated Press, United Press International (coaches' poll), Sports Illustrated, CNN-USA Today, and the Football Writers of America. Why don't you write a letter of protest to those guys and maybe they'll change their minds.

No need to protest, they voted you in. BUT, if you think you would even be within two TD's Washington that year, you are crazy.

"The Huskies opened the 1984 college football season with a 9-0 record which included a 20-11 win at #4 Michigan in Michigan Stadium. While being ranked #1 in the AP poll, the Huskies dropped a 16-7 game to eventual Pac-10 champion USC, which cost Washington a chance at the Rose Bowl. The Huskies instead were invited to play in the Orange Bowl against the #2 Oklahoma Sooners. The game is famous for the Sooner Schooner incident. After Oklahoma kicked a field goal to take a 17-14 lead in the fourth quarter, a penalty was called on the Sooners which nullified the score. The Sooner Schooner driver, who didn’t see the flag, drove the wagon on the field and was immediately flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. The ensuing field goal attempt was blocked and led a momentum shift which saw Washington score two touchdowns in less than a minute en route to a 28-17 victory. Senior Jacque Robinson rushed for 135 yards and was named MVP, the first player in history to be named MVP of both the Orange and Rose Bowls.
In winning, the Huskies became the first team from the Pac-10 to play in and win the Orange Bowl. The Huskies finished the year ranked #2 in the polls, behind the WAC champion Brigham Young (13-0-0), 24-17 victors over the unranked Michigan Wolverines (6-5-0) in the Holiday Bowl. BYU's title was notable for being the only time since the inception of the AP poll that a team was awarded the national title without beating an opponent ranked in the top 25 at the season's end. The B (QPRS), FN, and NCF polls awarded the Huskies the national championship."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Washington beat the #4 AND the #2 team in football that year. It's too bad the BCS didn't exist back then. The bets would be this: which outcome will be worse: Georgia/Hawaii or Washington/BYU.

Then we agree. Other conferences have been interested on some level with BYU for decades.
2 isolated instances is not decades. We can say that decades ago 2 conferences were mildly curious.

just like 4 decades ago BYU was relevant.

Ute fans, we're in. Let the cougs have there fantasies. Haven't they suffered enough? Just go with it. Of course every major conference wants them, just look at all of the reasons and stuff.

See my post above. Washington would have wiped the floor with you. They blew out the #2 team in the country in their Bowl game. Did you forget that BYU barely, I mean BARELY won against a 6-5 Michigan team with their 4th string QB? It took a fourth quarter comeback for BYU in that game.

Did you also not see the bolded part above? I'll repost it for you:

"BYU's title was notable for being the only time since the inception of the AP poll that a team was awarded the national title without beating an opponent ranked in the top 25 at the season's end."

Just asking you to justify your position.

The big 12 had recent interest in BYU. But we are talking about your statement saying they have been interested for decades.

Kinda interesting how much Ute fans like to bash that Michigan team but yet you open and close your argument with it. And your other argument is them beating #2 OKC (who was a quality team). But they passed up a chance to beat the #1 ranked team and settle it all on the field. That is totally sackless and no one deserves a title when they turn down that opportunity.

Next.

It is funnier to laugh at them trying to justify their current situation. And like always happens when they try and do that they point to a time when they were relevant. Too bad not a single player on their current team was alive back then.
