No BYU-Utah Rivalry Football Games in 2014 or 2015

Okay so you have proof that they were targeting BYU now? Because your current article doesn't come close to saying that.

You must have confused the guys name...Tuckett. With the word Target. :)
I'm pretty sure I posted this early but here it is again:

Texas A&M regents OK Big Eight membership (Des Moines Register 02/25/1994)
"Another source told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the Big Eight also has targeted for expansion Brigham Young and New Mexico of the Western Athletic Conference. Such additions would link 14 schools from nine contiguous states that stretch from Texas to Iowa and from Utah to Missouri. 'One step at a time,' cautioned Colorado Chancellor and Big Eight chairman James Corbridge, who is overseeing the addition the Texas schools. But, he said, 'In this environment, you can't wait around until everything falls into place.'"

Report: BYU talks to Big 8, SWC on move (The Commercial Appeal Memphis, TN 02/14/1994)
"Brigham Young University officials have talked with the Southwest and Big 8 conferences about the possibility of leaving the Western Athletic Conference, according to a published report. BYU Vice President R. J. Snow told the Houston Chronicle his school had preliminary discussions with SWC and Big 8 officials. The discussions were sparked by the Southeastern Conference's defection from the College Football Association television package for a deal with CBS."

I am a cougar fan, and am glad the rivalry is over this way, with the Utes chickening out and pretending they are too cool for the rivalry. They finally get the upper hand and win a few in a row, and immediately think they are big stuff. Just because the cool kids at school needed a number and chose you and the other powerhouse, Colorado, doesn't mean you are actually cool. It really is amazing how big the heads are in Salt Lake County these days. Man, the Lavell years must have really hurt your feelings if you are this pumped about creating a new rivalry with Colorado. I completely understand though the need to rationalize your behavior as Ute fans, I even think I heard the cognitive dissonance "sproink" sound from inside the bubble. I get it, I hear the same noise when I try to talk myself into independence over being in a big conference. At first I thought BYU and Utah were the brothers that fought all the time but deep down liked each other.... now I'm starting to see that there were some serious feelings that were hurt. On behalf of all BYU players and fans over the years that hurt you deeply on the field and in the message boards... I am sorry we hurt your tender feelgoods, and hope you make a speedy recovery. What do you want put on the balloons I send you, and would you be able to fit them into your super tall trucks with your heads in there too?

Say all the crap you want about a national championship, it's just like a win. A win is a win no matter how ugly, a national championship is a national championship no matter how the haters, and jealous critics try to take away from it.

So again, I'm glad we won't be playing the stuck up Utes, soon to be the Utah Pioneers, or the Utah Hawks or the Utah Feathers. Go ahead and have your mediocre and losing seasons and explain on message boards how you were better than your record, and that with a few bounces your way you would have been a contender, you coulda been somebody. 10 to 1 you Youtah fanz watch all of the BYU games even though you don't play us those years just so you can trash talk even when the rivalry is over. I will probably have to put up with a clip or 2 from channel 5 when the Utes beat their 4 teams, and blame the other losses on injury and on Colorado just getting lucky.

Did I go over the top enough for you guys... I was trying to match you.

Please grade my attempt to keep the thread going strong.

Man, I need to remind myself to argue with Conan more. My pos reps go through the roof each time I do.

Funny thing is, I enjoy most of the BYU posters in this forum. Catratcho, Thriller, Colton, and even Trout are just a few that I enjoy seeing jump into the rivalry talk. They're nice guys, It's just too bad they're rooting for the wrong side.

Did you forget that BYU barely, I mean BARELY won against a 6-5 Michigan team with their 4th string QB? It took a fourth quarter comeback for BYU in that game.
I'm sure this is normal Ute honk hyperbole but it was Michigan's #2 QB and he'd started 5 games that year including one where he broked Michigan's singel-game passing record (which isn't saying much actually).

And let's keep in mind the following season is which BYU beat up a Flutie-less Boston College and then wrecked Washington on the way to #16 ranking I believe losing 3 games by a combined 12 points (including powerhouse UTEP).

As I was saying.

Were you talking about yourself being a 'tard? If so I concur, and thanks for the passing grade... but it doesn't mean much coming from a tard.

So I was bored, who cares.

In all reality, I'm just sick of everything. Maybe I'm just as Numb as you are now... I really don't care about the "rivalry" any more. We'll put a marker down so we can visit the grave site, maybe put a few flowers down every 3-5 years and move on with life. I know the split makes sense, but I'm always worried about the kids when a rivalry ends after all these years. They always take it so hard, and think it was their fault. It's just not fair to them. We should stop the arguing, as it just hurts those we love. I know your love has gone cold, and you don't want to stay in this relationship and you have been seeing other rivals. I tried to make it work after the cheating, and even after you suddenly moving out I tried to give you a second chance, but you are determined to chase the younger and hotter teams. I thought it was just a midlife crisis, but I see now that after all these years you never loved me. You were just using me to fill your selfish needs and get what you want. You are all about perceived power conferences. I see now what your true nature is, and I don't want any part of it. I will fight for the kids though, you don't deserve them after all of the pain you caused them.

Yes, still bored.

I will say this...

As long as the Utes have Wynn at QB they will struggle offensively. We all know he's going to break a shoulder by week 6. Just how many more completions into the butts of his linemen vs TD passes will he have by then? How many wide open receivers will he under throw? Will any WRs finally lose their cool and scream at him? Demand a change? Just how many more years will we need to see Wynn suck? How many times will he chicken out and chuck up an ill-advised pass because a defender came within 20 yards of him? Will that new freshmen QB be ready to take over for the injured Wynn by then?

I know of very few Ute fans that seem to want to discuss this issue.

Teams are going to figure out that Utah only has one weapon, and are going to load up the box with defenders to shut him down this year.

Riley Nelson isn't very good. But he's the difference between Dwill and Earl Watson to me. How the hell Wynn was ever recruited by someone other than Wyoming is beyond me....

Personally, I think out of the 3 teams this year one needs to really take a look at that team "up north." Waaaayyy up north. Anderson is a hell of a coach...

QB Wynn is still better than Hays. We had to make John White IV run for most of the plays last year because we did not have a strong throwing game. White was a beast, but our offense last year was pretty boring to watch. I think Chow saved us from a potentially disastrous season. Fortunately, Hays performed when he needed to, especially during the last quarter of the sun bowl. I think Wynn will do very well this year, but he is nowhere near NFL quality. Wynn was a savior from T. Cain, but he just has to stay healthy. We have decent backups behind him that have yet to shine I hope John White goes crazy again this year.

Basic concerns for 2012:
Johnson as new OC <<<youngest in the nation?
Wynn's shoulder

Advantages?
Defense
Returning seniors
Star
White and York are capable RB

If Wynn really sucks, I don't think Whittingham is afraid to quickly pull him off and replace him with someone else. <<<I think Cain was replaced midway through 2009?

I don't really follow BYU, but it would smart of them to join a league. I personally thought the rivalry was a blast and I continue to enjoy the Utes 54-10 win from last year. I won't lie though, their 1984 argument get's on my nerves.

Heaps was a clown, but Nelson isn't that much of an upgrade. I don't think Nelson can stay in the pocket too long, he runs all over the place. Unless he can go Michael Vick, he won't be very effective. On the bright side for BYU, I heard Tanner Magnum is pretty good QB pick up. Considering how limited their recruiting can be, BYU does fairly well.

I must give credit where credit is due: green brought his A-Game, which is a first for this board. I'm genuinely impressed.

Just kidding, you're a tool. Watching you and your team fail year in and year out is going to be the second best thing in my life. The first, of course, is knowing that you butt pirates will never get beyond your bronze. Mediocrity 4 Teh Winz0rz!1

Based on what? Why do you think Wynn will do very well? When has he "ever" done very well? With the exception of the game against Cal 3 years ago, Wynn has been mediocre (at best).

Wynn isn't even near Div I quality IMO...

You say he just needs to stay healthy? LOL. When has he done that? That's like saying Greg Oden just needs to stay healthy...

Wynn is garbage, defenses are going to load up to stop White, and Utah has a VERY difficult task ahead of them offensively. Their older QBs shouldn't be playing Div I and their most talented QB is a freshmen who probably won't be ready to play.

Riley Nelson is light years ahead of Wynn. Then again, that's really not saying much... He's only 8 TD passes behind, Saint Jordan Wynn, The Chosen One, despite only playing 1 full season of games when you combine 2010 and 2011.

We all knew this was coming. The only surprise is that they will actually continue to play each other every few years.

Oh, and Wynn will be just fine this year if he stays healthy. His problem is he is injury prone. Even if he gets hurt the Utes are still way better at QB than last season.

And Riley Nelson isn't fit to carry Wynn's jock strap, lol.
