what is the formula for seeing your rep power increase??
I don't think any of us know the actual formula, but I do know it represents 3 things;
- Amount of time as an active member.
- Number of posts.
- Rep points.
It seems things are much more weighted to rep points than the other two items.

I don't think so the poster above you has the same amount of bars as I do and his rep power is three and mine is 7.
Don't know. There could be just so many reasons. I suspect it has to do with the size of my rep power.

I have noticed that some people start posting with 5 rep power and soem start with 1 (like me). That would explain the difference.
If this is true, then why do I always have to beg for a happy ending?
First, you have to be a bad ***. I'm not talking about just your run of the mill bad *** either, I'm saying Tom Selleck mixed with Brad Pitt from Troy -- with a little bit of Anthony Robbins mixed in for good measure. Then, you have to be hung like an elephant. As you can see by my enormous rep power, I clearly fit the mold.

I know a few of the mods really like me, but they're just too embarrassed to show it. Otherwise I'd be at 25 by now.I think the mods do it. I don't know if they follow some sort of guidelines that decides if rep increases, or if they increase it for you because they like you or what not.
??? How can someone start with 5 rep power???

IMO it is way to heavily weighted for # of posts and time on the board. Guys with less bars than others have more rep power because they post all of the time. I would make rep points recieved far and away the most heavily weighted. I don't think that time on the board or # of posts should carry much power. Too me if you make posts people like that should hold far more weight for your rep power.I don't think any of us know the actual formula, but I do know it represents 3 things;

C'mon guys.
For every 130 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 2500 number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 300 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
