Not sure Mo is really an upgrade at PG. Also worth noting that Marvin's 38% from 3 last year was a huge outlier. History says he should shoot 33 to 35 going on the last 4 seasons. Big improvement to Bell in the starting unit on the whole, though his inability to pass or drive is fairly reminiscent of Bell, and not good in our system. I don't really think the additions will help or hurt us a great deal on the whole.
If we're better, it will have a lot to do with at least one, if not two of Hayward/Favors/Burks taking a step. It also wouldn't hurt if Al/Sap took a step. But the big X factor is injuries. We were very fortunate in that department a year ago. Statistically, somebody is going down, and our depth is a major question.
I don't mind Al going down for 20 games or so, so that Kanter can get valuable extended minutes...
We'd lose a lot, but sure.
If Kanter comes out a better player, I'd take that.
If he did, sure. Of course, the opposite could happen.
Lotta reasons not to "roll the dice" on forcing minutes for Kanter. Volume over quality is a mistake, but I've already beat that drum so lets skip that. Though just to add a wrinkle: look what Washington did with Kwame Brown who entered the league about the same age as Kanter. 1st 2 years, 14 and 22 minutes with with 13.4 and 15.7 PER's -- not shabby for an 18 and 19 year old kid. In year 3, they forced 30 minutes on him, mostly as a starter, and he regressed badly -- a 10.4 PER.
Whether Kwame was ever going to be a good player is actually a separate point. After year 2, Kwame had trade value. After year 3, he didn't. Managing Kanter's development requires the same level of care because he's both a future player for us AND an asset. But if we diminish his trade value in a rush to develop him, we're stuck with a penny stock we hope blows up. Not a good position to be in.

I have no idea who Bill Plaschke is, but I will say he's much more handsome than I am.

wow...
REALLY??
I'm 87 years old. My sexy Bill Plaschke days are well behind me. I could tell you some stories, though.
Damnit billyshelby if you're really 87 years old that is freaking awesome. You better not be foolin me.
My 112 year old mom likes to say I'm 87 years young. That's so clever! So yeah, she's a hoot, but I'm sick of the old bag. Been living with her since '74 and I've been seriously thinking about moving out and getting my own place. But it's a big step and I'm not sure if I'm ready.
