That everytime I see on the forum home page that a new member has joined, I automatically assume it's an alt account?

Is there not a way to filter out these alternate accounts? Surely the IPs matchup from the main accounts? Or is it more sophisticated than that?

It can become more complicated. There are ways of hiding your true IP address. Personally I think it's stupid of people who get banned to make alt accounts. If you're that concerned with being able to post on Jazzfanz, maybe you ought to look at your priorities.

I guess concerned wasn't the best word choice. I probably should have gone with suspicious, since it doesn't bother me. It's mostly a game of how long they'll last.

While I agree with you, there are some instances that I don't. For example, people like Hantlers, Yell_42, ChiClown, Hopper/Aintnuthin, and Heaven Harris got their bans because not only did they break the rules, but people hated them. Watching them try and come back is pathetic. Nobody wants you here, you're annoying, and your attempts at comebacks -- while fun for you, no doubt -- waste the time of others, annoy just about everyone, and really speak volumes about what type of person you are: A TOOL.

That being said, there have been people over the years who were amazing posters, but felt the iron fist of the mod staff and were gone before their voice was ready to die. The great sage and eminent douchebag, Lost Taco Vendor comes to mind. Hand Lotion comes to mind. Ballijuana comes to mind. Hearsky comes to mind. Jesus Christ comes to mind. So on, and so forth. I would give just about anything for Ballijuana to come back, and he and I had a few innerweb fights that were so intense, you could cook a hot dog on the heat coming from my crotch.

Now, I say this as a guy who has been banned on, uh, several occasions, and made somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 alt accounts over the years. Clearly, I don't fit into either of the aforementioned categories, but fit into a third category, which isn't worth mentioning, because I'm the only person there. (hint: it's awesome)

LTV. I do sometimes wonder whatever happened to that freak. He created quite the interesting board persona. Maybe he got trampled at a soccer match.

Not true Trout. I like Hantlers. I mean if I can like you I can like pretty much anyone...

Good point, and I should've elaborated a bit. Clearly, everyone has at least one fan. Hell, even Hopper had one or two people that liked him/her/it. My point, which sucked, was that people that suck and have a lot of haters tend to get a lot more of their posts reported, which helps get them banned that much faster. This is speculation on my part, but I feel safe saying it.

Doctor, I concur.

Now tell us how you feel about snitches reporting posts. Who gets worked up enough to be such a bitch? :)
