Rule Changes for Next Season

1. All flagrant fouls will be reviewed to determine what level of flagrant was committed or to determine if it was even a flagrant. Previously only fouls that were called flagrant 2 initially were reviewable.

2. In the last two minutes of regulation or any overtime period, replay can be used to see if a defender was in the restricted area on block/charge situations and to determine if a goal-tending call that was made is correct.

Thoughts?

I like giving the refs the ability to review flagrant foul calls. I'm kind of lukewarm on the block/charge and goal-tending reviews since the end of the game will now take even longer. But if the refs can get it right I guess that is a good thing.

Depends on how long it takes the refs to look at the charging call. The end of games (with timeouts and everything) might take a long time.

@Incubus, thanks for the info man, I just rep'd you for another thing so can't rep for this thread. What do you think on the "sponsorship patches on jerseys" subject? I believe it may ruin the jerseys. It does ruin in Europe, especially when they do it through horrible designs.

Not as much as the players' ridiculous tats.

Oops, there I go channeling cj again.

But seriously, would you really notice any patches on a guy like the Birdman? You're too busy looking at the spectacle of the man.

Wonder what happens if a sponsorhip conflicts with a player's religious belief.

Tats ruin the guys(yeah, I too don't like them, hi CJ:)) and patches will ruin the jerseys. You will understand how it's annoying to watch a game with the ads on players, when this thing get started.

Two new rule changes next year: 1) Palming the basketball will be STRICTLY enforced...resulting in a turnover EVERY TIME it's done by ANY player no matter WHO he is or how much he's paid! 2) All fouls deemed "intentional" by the ref will result in 2 foul shots and retention of the ball! Result to basketball fans watching the NBA game? More passing, more assists, better shooting percentages, less dribbling and less fouls resulting in more offense with little chance of flagrant fouls occurring.....since they will result in immediate ejection from the game!

When is the NBA going to do something about flopping? I keep hearing there have been changes, but seeing is believing and I still the usual flop artists getting away with it.

Can they only review to see if they are in the restriced zone? Because the biggest problem with those calls is that players are moving to get out of the zone and still get the ****ing call. They need to be able to review if the player was in position or not. I think the restricted zone has done more to hurt NBA basketball than help it.

My guess is that it can only determine if the defender was in the restricted zone. So they only way they can reverse a call is if the refs were wrong about that fact only. I see it as being similar to reviews to determine who knocked the ball out of bounds. Even though a guy may have knocked the ball out of bounds because he got hammered by someone on the other team, you still have to give possession to the team that got away with the foul.

Takes too long. The rule book states that, "when in doubt, the call goes in favor of the player making more money."
