On an interesting note Lincoln was a Republican, and was anti-slavery. The Democrats were pro slavery.
Also very early on it was the Federalists that wanted a strong federal government, and the Democrat-Republicans that were opposed to this. Interesting how now the Democrat party holds to what it once fought against, strong federal government and the whole slavery issue.
This is why I can't stomach voting for the current crop of democrats. They're taking the Elizabeth Warren line out into commie territory. I honestly thought Obama was trying to throw the election when I heard him say thsi--it was that far over the top.
It's one thing to give rule of law, infrastructure, & the benefits of sound taxation policies there just due; it's another thing to cross that line into Obamaland where you're engulfing envy leads to an interest in everything destructive. Giving zero credit for business advancement is more rabid than the far right not giving government it's dues.
