I select The Big "O", Oscar Robertson
There's hardly enough space to talk about him, but it warrants it since he's not fresh on everybody's minds. Let's start with that he's the only player to average a triple double (30, 12, 11), and also if you string together 5 of his seasons consecutively, he averaged a triple double over that time as well.
He still holds the record for most triple doubles in history, which won't be touched (and anytime you can get the best of anything, you're doing alright). He did all of this during a time when there was no 3-point line and the rules heavily favored big men (which is what validates his contributions, in contrast to Wilt [who was great, no doubt] in the same era). He's the prototype of the do-it-all player, paving the way for players like Magic Johnson and Lebron James. Even in our era, he was a beastly specimen (6' 5" 220), and got to the line at a corresponding rate.
-NBA MVP
-NBA Champion
-He went to the ASG 11 times (winning 3 MVPs) in an era where people wore Chuck Taylors, flew coach, and had no medical staff.
-All-NBA 10 times (1st team 8 times, 2nd twice)
-Almost 10,000 assists, leading the league 6 times, retiring with the league record (at a time where assists were counted more stringently)
-Averaged 30 PPG for 8 seasons (again, with no three-point line)
-Led the league in both scoring and assists
The list of PGs that even belong in a fantasy draft is very short, and I'm grabbing one that does it all and can play another position, or even more in a pinch.
PG - O
SG - O
SF - O
PF - Duncan
C - Duncan
Already got my bases covered.
