Whisky, are you familiar with the literature of Gene Wolfe? He's a Catholic author whose faith heavily features in his work. As an atheist, I find most popular religiously inclined authors a bit boring and tedious (C.S Lewis for example). But Wolfe is absolutely amazing, and I count him among my favorites.
I'm going to read his books because of his mustache alone!

Do you have any works of Gene Wolfe that you would recommend?
I've never read him, but I'm going to now. I've fallen in love with literature the past few years. Out of curiosity, what do you think of Graham Greene?
All-time fantasy authors darft would be so fun guys.
Somebody get it started.
It is interesting you bring up Greene. He is the antithesis of modernism in literature, and I ****ing LOVE modernists. I specially like James Joyce, whom Greene despises.
I'd say he's an interesting fellow. I enjoy straight forward writers who emphasize simple structure and wording, instead focusing on the complexity of ideas and plot lines. I don't think Greene is quite on the same level as Hemingway, but The Quiet American is a masterpiece, and a number of other works are intriguing, such as The End of the Affair. The Third Man is also a great movie, but I haven't read the book. But he also writes some fluff. Then again, so does Gene Wolfe., and it never bothered me.
