I live in Utah and am seriously considering dumping cable tv.

So, back on topic, ... I mean off ... if one wanted to run all their interweb traffic (more than a single PC) through a proxy, how would one hypothetically do this?

I believe that is a question some of the posters here do not want answered.

In theory you would need a computer to act as gateway with a proxy software installed. All the other computers would be connected to that computer. The proxy could be used to connect to a computer in another country so you could browse the internet as if you were there. Or it could be used to filter out undesired elements from the internet.

It takes some technical knowledge and time and maybe some additional network cards. To my knowledge the free proxy software is in Linux.

Actually, you can just run two routers in your house. Buy a router that can handle a dedicated VPN or proxy through the router, and spend a small amount on VPN access or proxy service (most of the free proxies are slow). Set up one router to always be logged into the VPN/proxy and use that router for Jazz games. You can buy decent VPN service for around $30-$50 a year.

I helped my buddy in Japan with a setup just like this so he can watch Hulu and U.S. tv shows through a US VPN. It works great for him. I've also tested it on Jazz games, and it worked great. Just make sure you buy a router that supports it either stock or after an aftermarket flash with a program such as DD-WRT or Tomato. Easy peasy.
