What's new

my last dumb phone

Oh, cool I get my credit Nov. 1st. Perfect timing. So not the Samsung Galaxy III, then?

That's a good phone too. But there's a new LG Nexus due that will be better. There's also the Note 2 that Sprint will have soon, and HTC has a competitor to the Note coming out soon that will be pretty sweet too.

One thing to consider though... All of Sprint's new phones have LTE for their 4G. But Sprint hasn't launched LTE in SLC yet, or even announced a date for when/if they eventually will launch it.

It's rumored to launch sometime in 2013, but that's just a rumor. So you'll be without 4G (and forced to pay for it) until then.

I swear something new and better always comes out right after you get a new phone.

I know what you mean, I just got this one and it's out of date already.

I have the Samsung 3. Its pretty sweet. Cant go wrong with it really. I have been using HTC smartphones before this. This is my first Samsung. I like it, but the only complaint I have is the touch screen isnt as good as what HTC makes. HTC's are more responsive and a little more accurate. HTC also has better call quality. But thats about it. This Samsung does a few other things better though. Its about a wash, but Ill probably go back to an HTC after this. We'll see. Depends on whats out. Im all about the smart phones, Ill upgrade about once a year.

The best two phones to me right now(unless something just came out that I dont know about) are, the S3, and the HTC ONE. Dont go cheap either. Its a waste of money. You are only going to have to pay about 200-250 + sign contract for the best phone. Its well worth it. Also, Verizon is the best for Smart phones, they have the fastest most reliable internet. I have used all the carriers, so I know. Plus, the better phone you have, the easier it is to sell when you are ready for an upgrade. I get 200+ for my old phone every time. Then that money goes towards my new phone. You see now?

It amazing to me that so many people still havent gotten into smart phones. Its going to be the best money you spend all year, excluding your house and car. The convenience and trouble it saves you cant be measured. You are smarter and more prepared through out your daily activities.

Also, you would think that all the people on Jazzfanz would appreciate being able to post from anywhere, and anytime. I cant imagine having to sit in front of my computer every time I want to come on here. You can play on Jazzfanz from anywhere, anytime, on your smart phone.

Like Salt Dawg was talking about too, the calender is sick. You can link you work email to your phone. So when I get an email from work about an upcoming meeting, it automatically links it to my calender and will remind me of the meeting. Or any other event your work has set up. And I dont have to do anything, it just does it by its self.

I hate that people are more into what's going on with their phones than what's going on with the people around them, though. I like that when I'm at my computer I'm fully at my computer and that when I'm not I'm not.

This is my phone. It is not a smart phone. I guess that makes it a dumb phone. So sad for me.
Does anybody else have a dumb phone, or does everyone but me have a smart phone?

Yes. This thread is dumb, as is my phone. But I felt left out.

This made me laugh. I had never noticed this thread before, but I'm actually still using this exact same phone model that you posted back in June 2010. Got it in 2007, replaced the battery once, still works fine.

Personally, the new gee-whiz phones these days just aren't appealing to me. I don't see the need to be able to access the internet 24/7 away from home, or watch videos, or whatever else people do on their phones nowadays. Mine just makes calls. (And takes pictures, but I never use that function anyway).

About the only "feature" that I would consider mandatory in getting my next phone is to have one that displays the time on the front without having to open it -- because I also use my phone as a pocket watch. Give me just that and I'm a happy camper.

Someday you guys are going to get a decent phone and wonder how you ever got by without it.

That is, of course, after your grandkids show you how to use the blasted, new fangled, waste of money.

On a side note, I laugh at the Samsung commercial that has the guy saving a spot in the iphone line for his parents. Funniest part for me, yes, I lol.

I have a great phone. I make calls with it, I get calls with it, I send and receive texts, and I even have a couple of regular alarms to remind me of things. I spend about $10/month on service. What else would I want from a phone?

Everything your computer currently does but about 10x faster than your computer and with zero boot time. Plus a camera, camcorder, GPS, your entire music collection, calendar with all of your appointments and reminders, just about every radio station in the nation plus internet radio with stations customized based on songs you like or dislike, video phone calls, usable text messaging, and plenty more but I'll stop here.

Once you have all of this, with broadband internet, with you at all times, I bet you would never go back to the phone you have right now.

so lemme ask you young'uns a question - - is it a good sign when you see a couple on a date at a nice restaurant and they both spend more time each tapping into their phones then anything else?

went out to dinner at this new trendy restaurant and that's what was going on at three of the tables nearby. wasn't sure what to make of it.

why would you ever even get out of bed?

well OK, to go to the bathroom, maybe....

I was going to answer, then remembered I'm not a young'un.

I still think it's dumb. Why waste the money on a date if you don't interact with the date... unless they were texting each other.

Really? Computers won't be able to use the same technology, with larger resources to draw upon? Suuuuuure. I have no doubt that the smart phones of ten years in the future will be comparable to desktops today. However, the desktops will be conssiderably better, as well.

Plus a camera, camcorder,

You won't be able to bring those phones into several different facilities (for example, any government faciltiy with a classification of Secret or better).

I will get all that for $10/month? I find that hard to believe.

ooI HATE THAT!!

A little worse was the time only one of the people on the date was on the phone the whole time, the other person was just sitting quietly looking around.
