OKC Trade is a glimpse into our future

OKC just traded Harden to Houston for KMart, Lamb and draft picks. Couldn't agree on an extension so they shipped him.

This shows the downside to the 'Thunder model'. When you have 4 good young players who all want big money something's got to give.

Navigating the contracts of the core four down the road is the elephant in the room right now.

Wow, you wonder if we could have done something like this. Houston has been involved in some bold trades. You'd think the Jazz could have offered better if we wanted to pay Harden 15 million per year.

One thing that we have going for us salary-wise is that we don't have any $20 million/ players right now let alone the $30 million that Kobe gets.

If KOC can keep the core together, provided the core is as good we all hope it can be, then he really is Kevin O'Godner.

Saw the rumor, is there a link from a reputable source?

If we're being aggressive for a max type player not in our core, I'd want it to be a PG/Rondo.

Note this is not a problem for the Thunder- they are keeping two of the best players in the NBA and a very good big man. If the trade is true they are turning Harden in a Lottery talent (Lamb), an expiring contract Martin and draft picks. Seems like the Thunder are still rolling.

Looks like one of the picks is Toronto's first round pick next year. Not a bad haul for Harden with that.

This all the way!!! If we had Rondo.... Dang this would be a good team!!

I think you can go a few different ways. After watching Favors on the right block and Kanter on the left block, all Tinsley had to do was throw it to either side. My point is if you have two great bigs and an A.S. quality wing, you don't necessarily need the best PG in the NBA--granted it's always nice to have it. I have more confidence at this point in Harden over Burks or Hayward, so in my mind, this trade should have been something the Jazz FO was thinking about. This all centers around our confidence in our young wings. I have a lot of doubts on both of them personally.

For the sake of the future I hope that Dallas and Toronto make the playoffs and that they have a high seed. It would be really tough if OKC added two more lottery talents to their roster. They already have a steal in PJ3.

OKC certainly took a step back with this trade but it might make them stronger in the next two years.

I think they did not take any steps back. K.Mart is more then capable to provide scoring punch of the bench and J.Lamb will be better then Harden IMHO.

Rockets must feel they can re-sign Harden - they certainly have cap room to offer him a max deal. But if I'm Harden I want no part of Houston. The Rockets threw a ton of money at Asik and Lin. Two huge question marks. If those guys don't pan out (which is very likely) that franchise is going to have a whole load of nothing.

Harden is a better defender than both of those players and a more prolific scorer in limited minutes. Harden can create with the ball in his hands. K-Mart can't do that and Lamb has not shown that ability in the NBA yet.

Houston is going to offer Harden 4 years $60 million. Harden wants the money.

It sounds like Harden was a greedy ****. The thunder offered him $55.5 over 4 years, 4.5 less than what Houston will give him. Not many players ever get the opportunity to play on a championship quality team. Ask Malone and Stockton how much they would pay for that opportunity. Now he's in Houston playing on an abysmal team that will not make the Playoffs. I understand it's 4.5 million dollars, but when you've already got $55.5, why not take the better working conditions unless you don't care?
