From my limited experience, 18 months seems like a fairly standard amount of time in a post.

If the story had been from the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, or even the Belleville News Democrat, I would not have given that reaction. The Washington Times is a rag, not much better (if at all) than World Net Daily. In this case, my "personal bias" was toward having source you can rely on.

I know the paper cites three years. From the scuttlebutt I've heard, 18 months is typical for a military member with an active career, and longer posting tend to reflect someone whose career has stalled.
 
Even so you have to admit that the timing is highly suspicious.

I dson't know the state of General Ham's career. What's his rank? Is he going for another star? If so, 18 monthys would not be suspicious at all.

Charles Woods, the father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods who was killed in the attack against the U.S. embassy in Libya, appeared on Geraldo Rivera's show on Fox News on Monday.

Woods slammed President Obama and suggested the president was responsible for the deaths of four Americans killed in Libya by terrorists, reports the Daily Mail.

Woods said, if given the opportunity, he would say to President Obama: "Mr. President, I respect your office. However, if you are responsible for the death of my son, I totally forgive you."

"This is about honor, courage and about love for America. And remember this, Mr President: my son and the others died heroes, and it's better to die the death of a hero than it is to live the life of a coward. If you are responsible for the death of my son, I forgive you, I love you. I also love America."

Woods added: "If this attack on American citizens, on American soil, happened 2,000 miles away from Washington D.C., say in Los Angeles or in Seattle, would you have waited seven hours before you sent the first airplane? Would you have waited seven hours until the attack was over?"

Woods also criticized President Obama when he met the families of the fallen in Libya: "When he finally came over to where we were, I could tell that he was rather conflicted, a person who was not at peace with himself. Shaking hands with him, quite frankly, was like shaking hands with a dead fish. His face was pointed towards me but he would not look me in the eye, his eyes were over my shoulder. I could tell that he was not sorry. He had no remorse."

Of his meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Woods said: "I could tell that she was not telling me the truth."

Woods did not explain how he "could tell" all of this about President Obama or about Secretary Clinton.

However, Tyrone Wood's mother Cheryl Croft Bennett praised the president, vice president and secretary of state: "Little did I know that I would find myself in a reception room being comforted, hugged and, yes, even kissed by the president of the United States. Along with the president, there was Vice-President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, and General and Mrs Colin Powell."

"They were all wonderful. They held my hand, offered condolences, gave warm hugs, and were extremely compassionate and genuinely sad for my loss, as I fought back tears and tried to project an image of strength to honor my SEAL son."
