Deron's Ankle?

Saw this on the Nets board on Realgm. I know he is not on our team anymore, but I am still going to follow Deron's career.

@BrooklynNets: .@deronwilliams, diagnosed with left ankle synovitis (inflamed tissue), received injection today and will miss 2 days of practice.

I read the thread on the Nets board discussing this and one of them said he remembers Deron saying he thought his ankle issue might be chronic. I don't remember Deron having ankle issues, do you guys? I only remember his wrist.

Yep. Here's the wikipedia summary:

Williams missed thirteen of the first fifteen games of the season due to a second-degree ankle sprain sustained in the preseason against the Chicago Bulls.

IIRC he sprained it by landing on Derrick Rose's foot. I can't say for sure if that is related to his problems now. But even beyond what you posted, it has been announced that D Will has bone spurs in his ankle. He plans to play through it this season, at least as of now. Surgery may be needed at some point.

I remember him having weak ankles. They are better than Curry's but hey are still an issue. I hope it is not chronic. I want to see DWill do some damage to the Knicks and the Heat in the east.

I didn't mention, but it was in the preseason leading up to the 2008-09 season when that happened.

You get bone spurs in your ankle when you sprain it really good. You can live with them for a while, but they can become a problem. I had the same thing. I had to get my ankle scoped twice to have bones spurs pulled out that were in my ankle that resulted from a bad ankle injury I had. Once you screw your ankles up they just aren't the same. They can get weaker and more susceptible to sprains.

Deron's sprain that preseason game was bad, and he rushed his comeback. And he didnt elect for surgery to fix the torn ligaments. So I can see how he could be having problems related to his main sprain.

That must explain why I seem to sprain the same ankle every 6 months.
