Tell me again why our future is so bright with all our lotto picks

Because if you can see the whole picture how many of these picks are we giving real quality min? I can only see two that they have already decided are going to pan our Favors and Hayward. Burks and Kanter aren't really getting the burn they need. So, what about the GS pick? ARe you still excited. I do like vets but they are going to have to make tough decisions for our future like moving Jefferson. Letting the youth play or we are going to turn into a farm team for the rest of the NBA when we hold them til they are FA and then they star on another team.
 
I for one am still optimistic about this team. At the end of this year we have 6 guys under contract. Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Burks, Evans, and I think Marvin well option in. Murphy well be a team option. So after this year there well be a lot of players who we have the option of keeping or getting rid of by letting them walk. And it well be Management make the choice on who stays and who goes, not Corbin. If we still have the same team only minus Paul or Al going into next year then I well start to be upset about the direction of the team.
 
I'd be more optimistic if we made some changes... Beginning with trading Big Al....

Followed by replacing our empty seat with a real coach. Someone who would kick this team in the *** when they put forth lazy efforts on the road.

Agree with both points.

1. Big Al is the reason our starting wings are inconsistent. When you hit the floor and coaches tell you to feed the big guy, it is hard to get motivated. We need to make a trade BigAl for a real starting point guard.
This move alone will light up our wings and help Hayward, Burks.

2. Coach - Ty absolutely needs to go. Jazz followed modern trend by a lot of teams going cheap on coaches. You get what you pay for.
 
I have faith if only because our new GM is Lindsey. I have to give him at least a year and a half ('til next season's deadline) to see if he's going to bring his SA philosophy here and be his own man or if he's just going to be KOC 2.0 (no offense, I recognize he is a very, very good GM) and simply stay the status quo with Jefferson and Co.

It better be the former.
 
Because of the flexibility. Utah isn't going to be developing 7 prospects plus Evans. Some of those assets will be converted into a star player, or should be.
 
But, aren't we flexible right now? Why does it seem like they can't move Jefferson to develop our young bigs? Or Burks why if we are flexible is it rumored we are shopping him without giving him a chance?

Yes the team is in a very fluid situation right now. That's what I'm saying. Lots and lots of cheap assets and no long term commitments. Not that there is any guarantee of a great deal but the pieces are there to create one. IMO this is the year to make that move, it's been long enough for them to have evaluated the players and it's time to make a decision.

Remember when Boozer was on a contract year. It was said then that the Jazz had flexibility. Yet, how many times are we promised the world as we watch those assets expire and we bring in new ones with the promise of hope yet they get buried on the bench.

I actually fear that history will probably repeat itself here.

Folks know that Jefferson, like Boozer, is a one trick pony.

When you look back at the trade we made... We lost... While Chicago REALLY lost. But they were going to lose anyway because they were dead set at signing Booz to a very expensive deal.

I just wonder, will folks be so stupid errr desperate to offer the same for Jefferson? I doubt it.

The contending teams all seem pretty well set. I don't see any team thinking that Jefferson is their missing piece. While Chicago obviously felt like Boozer was the offensive big they needed to compete for a championship...

Personally, it will be a miracle of stupid trade proportions if there is someone stupid enough to take Jefferson and his pathetic defense, weak offense, and big contract off our shoulders without tying us up with broken goods (like what Minny did to us by yoking us with Jefferson).

it's becoming clearer and clearer to me that the (only) option we have is to let Jefferson expire.

Millsap? Different story. Now Millsap has some value. The problem is, I'd trade Jefferson 100x before I'd ever trade Millsap.
 
I think if we could get Detroit to bite on Big Al and have then throw Knight at us it could be a win, win. We might have to take on a toxic asset like Maggette or Villanueva. But, it will be better for the young bigs and wings to move Al out of Utah.

Besides the fact that the Pistons drafted Drummond and Monroe on the team. Trading for AL would be creating the same issue the Jazz have. The only way the Pistons would trade for AJ is to dump contracts and I don't think the Jazz are wanting to trade AL so much that they take on a bad contract. There is little chance of the Jazz getting Knight. Besides I don't know if Knight is the passing PG the Jazz need.
 
If you look at the number of lottery picks in the last ten or twenty years and look at how many have actually "panned out", we're lucky to have Hayward and Favors where they are at now.
