My Al Trade idea

Big Al and Raja to Cleveland for Anderson Varejoa and Luke Walton.

I've read any trade involving Anderson requires taking on Luke's contract.

We finally get rid of Raja and replace our black hole with a rebounding monster that is quite pass happy and a hustle player to boot. He also is having a career year.

Thoughts?

I like mine better
 
Varajao is off to the best season of his career. He has a managable contract for a legit 7 footer. He's a better rebounder and defender than Al and averaging double digits. Unless you throw in one of the prospects (Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward) Cleveland would reject this immediately.
 
I really hope they don't throw in Burks.
Foye is not a long-term solution....

I believe it would get better. When Al is in the game, the ball hit's him on the left block and everything else just stops. It's brutal. Unless Al is making all of his shots. But then it's a one man show. With Anderson we would finally have ball movement in the starting line up and our wings may be able to play and not just stand around watching Al. Anderson is a hell of a passes out of the post.

Anderson is just the type of guy we need for our fourth big. I'd do it. Throw in Foye, if at all possible and get a draft pick.

The way it's looking I don't think anyone on our team is a "long-term solution." However, for a lot of guys on our team if you surrounded them with a "star" then things would be a lot different.

Walton or Varejao... Which is the star?
Methinks we need to look elsewhere for the solution.
 
I find it funny how the contrarians argue that a Jazz team minus Al will be awful offensively. If Ty decided to run the exact same offense, then they'd be right, but getting rid of Al to allow us to change our offense would be solving half the problem.

In this scenario, neither. My response had nothing to do with the trade proposed in this thread. However, Varejao is a big upgrade over Al.

Varejao is the perfect defensive big to stash next to Kanter off of the bench.
What better way to develop Kanter's offensive game, then to put a tall shot blocker next to him that doesn't need touches.
If Walton comes with the deal, then I will puke if the Jazz do not immediately waive him.
 
I don't think Cleveland would want to give up Varejao for one year of Jefferson. Financials aren't a concern here.

I've been an advocate of trading with Cleveland for their assets, admittedly minor assets. Get Sacramento's pick (too far protected to be usable for a few years), and the Lakers' pick and maybe Cleveland's pick with some protection if Cleveland wants to try to compete with both Varejao and Jefferson. Eat Walton's expiring. Still saves Jazz money and gives them more assets to play with.

And who would score for us? He's by far our best player right now, but thats nothing new on this board. we always want to trade our best player!
 
sorry OP i dont think the cavaliers are stupid enough to do the trade you proposed.
varejao is just too gooooood.
but i applause the effort. better luck next time.
