NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

It was humerous, and sad to watch the Burks haters trash him for missing two shots in garbage time. If you noticed (and we know you didn't) he played hard on defense, and was not the horrible chucker you made him out to be in 4 mins.

What he has stopped doing in his limited time is attack the rim. He's got to continue to do what he does best, and hope his effort on the defensive end is noticed.

I agree.

I found it funny that after the game numerous posters were saying that burks was being a chucker and playing hero ball.... he took 2 shots in 5 minutes, meanwhile murphy took 3 shots in 4 minutes, evans took 2 shots, and im not sure how many kanter and tinsley took.

But ya 2 shots in five minutes is just horrible chucking lol.

As a jazz fan I've never been so upset watching the jazz play. We are wasting burks as we let him rot on the bench and hope we have a 20 point lead with 5 minutes left in a game to let him pass the ball to Murphy and Evans!!

For those who argue that Burks hasn't preformed in the minutes he has been given are just insane. How many times has Foye or tinsley just be chucking the ball and getting best on D, but Ty still sticks with them?? Burks should be given the same type of luxury if time really claims he needs to find time for Burks!!

Thing is... we all know burks is a GREAT finisher at the rim because we all saw him do it over and over again last year and basically anytime he has gotten playing time. Cyrone just like to cause trouble is all.

I wouldnt say a great finisher, I would say a great foul drawer. Did he have an abnormal amount of and 1's or something?

probably my #3 frustration in every game (after the static offense and the lack of help D from the bigs) is foye's absolutely laughable perimeter D. so i get that foye has his weaknesses.

but foye finds ways to contribute. carroll, who has maybe a third the talent that burks has, finds ways to contribute. marvin and gordon find ways to contribute. if burks played with that mentality -- i don't know if i'll get shots but i know what i CAN do to make the team better tonight -- he'd be playing. corbin gave him a 4-game run in the rotation to prove he's ready, but a coach can't wait around 20 minutes for you to get into a groove. take memphis - he gets 7 valuable minutes in a winnable road game against a western playoff team, and he's so invisible (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0/2 shooting) that corbin COULDN'T go back to him in the second half. how long do you think corbin should have waited on him that night? 8 minutes? 10? 20? yet despite how bad he was that night, corbin still gave him MORE minutes in the next three games to give him a shot. the return on that investment: 7 points on 13 shots, and a guy who was either going head-down into a sea of defenders OR just standing passively around the perimeter.

i'm not worried about burks. we have him under contract through 2014 (with the option to extend thru '15) and he's got time to grow up. but giving a guy minutes he hasn't earned can hurt him developmentally just as much as not giving him minutes at all. and right now... BURKS. HAS. NOT. EARNED. IT.
