He seems to be a talented player and a big investment. Utah dealt with a player's mental illness with Luther Wright, and I hope this works out better for everyone then that first round bust did. What if White just played home games only? Go to the NBA players union and NBA execs to get a waiver on his rookie contract and pay him half of his agreed rookie salary for only home games. He doesn't have to travel at all.

No coach is going to play a rookie home games only. That would be so unfair to everyone else on the team and probably hurt the player's respect for the coach.

I'm not advocating the idea, but clearly this depends upon how it's handled. If the players are behind a kid and the coach is perceived as going to bat for the team, then it works .. all things are just about how they're handled.

I could see it working with a veteran who has respect already, but I just can't see that ever working with a rookie.

Like if you had a proven vet, someone like Millsap, who developed something to were he could no longer play road games. The team would understand because he has earned respect already. With Royce, it's almost like a sense of entitlement.

Yes. However, if a rookie were embraced by his teammates, it would be the same.. I guess what I'm saying is Royce doesn't seem to have many lobbying for him.

Give the guy a break. He's afraid of flying, people with fauxhawk's, peanuts, and people looking at him.

It makes it hard, and his team should make some concessions to help him.

Not that he is disabled, but them helping him be on the team would go a long way towards the hiring of more disabled, veterans, and minorities on these teams.
It would create a lot of goodwill with these special interest groups.
