Favors Finishing Games. Millsap Sits.

So Favors has finished the last 3 (?) games while Paul has sat to close games.

We all know Millsap slumps at least once throughout the season, but this feels different to me. We've all been screaming for minutes for Derrick, now he's getting them.

Will this last? How much rope will Corbin give him? When Millsap rebounds from his slump will he finish games, even if Favors continues to play well?

I think the battle between Al and Paul has begun. The winner stays with the team post ASB, and Al is winning so far.

I think Big Al definately has the advantage due to the fact the favors is more of a power forward and AL can play the 5 and millsap cant.

I think we will see more of Favors in the closing out of games and less of Millsap. This will increase as the season goes on. I hope I am wrong but I am starting to see Millsap leaving and being glad to go.

Favors has been playing a more complete game when he's on the court at the same time as Jefferson. In the past he would just be a defensive presence - now he's exerting himself more on offense.

Right now, Millsap is clearly the odd man out in close games because Carroll and Hayward can adequately guard both 2's and 3's.

can you imagine sap+hayward+kanter coming off our bench? That's a pretty good bench.

Throw Carroll into that group. Kanter, Sap, Carroll, Hayward and Tins/Watson is a good second unit.

Why isn't Favors starting games as well. There is no reason he should be getting any less than 30 minutes a game.

I've always liked Paul and he's been loyal to this team. However, Favors does deserve the time - needs it. I wish Paul would embrace the 6th man role as well, because he'd be awesome there. But if someone has to go, even though I like Paul better than Al (with his poor defense), it does make sense for pure height to keep Al around to play the 5. I'd hate Paul to go, but if he doesn't wanna be #6 I don't see how you can keep both he and Favors happy. And Favors is the future of this team.

Millsap has proven that he is a clutch player a few times in his career. Miami comes to mind. In close games, he should be on the court instead of Foye.
The final 5 should be:
Jefferson
Favors
Millsap
Hayward
PG (any of the 3 are fine with me)

In talking of how Jefferson plays the 5 and Sap does not you would think that eventually we want to put some trust into our #3 pick ala Enes Kanter. So if Favors played out of position for a bit it wouldn't be much of a problem. Not saying that AJ should stick around as opposed to Sap, because I would probably take the best I could get for either. Sap is probably more moveable though. I've grown to like Big Al. Last night I loved the post up, pass out and then repost to Al via Hayward for the finish at the rim.
