Spurs Fined 250K for sitting players

Popovich got too extreme in his approach. It's one thing to bring the guys along and sit them on the bench. Sending them home while the rest of the team went to Miami was too much.
 
Stern's micromanaging is a travesty, and his actions will now make the lines even fuzzier.

Example: Spurs' best four players stay with the team and play for 4, 5, 7, and 2 minutes respectively.

Does Stern then start putting minute limits on players? He's a tyrant. Where the hell was he when the Warriors were resting players. D-bag!
 
^ yeah it's such a stupid precedent to set.

What about teams tanking with 20 games left in the season (portland/golden state last year)? All of a sudden these minor injuries cause players to miss multiple games
What about Golden State or Philly not being honest about their star player's injuries to begin the season to try to get more people to buy into the team?

Let a coach ****ing coach...

My thoughts exactly.
 
I haven't followed extremely close, but where does Stern have the authority to do this? I can't imagine that he would go forward if it risked a suit, but even if he does, the inconsistency should pose a risk I would imagine.

My issue is that he just does it out of nowhere. I would think its good practice to issue a rule and perhaps even a warning, more along the lines of the flopping rule change.

Said exactly this in the other thread on this topic - teams who are tanking are a bigger problem, but Stern turns a blind eye to that. It's okay for the Bobcats to tank an entire season and rip off their season-ticket holders, or for countless teams over the years to shut down players with minor injuries once they're out of the playoff race, but Pop rests his big-name players (that the league doesn't respect enough to market anyway), and suddenly Stern's worried about the fans? Stern's retirement can't come soon enough for me.
 
So to avoid fines/suspensions players will now suddenly get a case of food poisoning or something like that.
