The problem isn't official church policy.
The problem is members who treat gays and gay issues in a dismissive or disdainful manner. Not very Christ-like, IMO.
The church can talk about loving everyone until they're blue in the face - it's up to the membership to walk the walk, and generally they're doing a piss poor job.

Maybe the site is as much for members as for anyone else?

I like the "Hope" portion. Like your conquering some disease or illness. How Gay people stay in the church after the way they are treated is beyond me.
If it helps them walk the walk as Bronco put it then it is a good idea. You can oppose gay marriage without hating gays. The two do not have to be linked.
