Okay, I'm gonna say something here, no offense intended. (That means I'm about to say something I know is offensive)

I've met many men who max out my gaydar and who are very devout Mormons with wives and children. Even after knowing them for some time I can't get passed some of their effeminate mannerisms and voice to actually believe they are not gay. I have a feeling they are gay in reality, but they are going through the motions of the life they know they are expected to lead.

Anyone else met what you are nearly certain is a gay LDS man pretending (living) to be straight?

Yes sir.

And I know a few who were like that, then later came out as gay. Some who were married with kids, others shortly after returning from their mission.

Yeah, I have. More than a couple in my life in the church.

I guess it just boils down to which is the greater compulsion in one's life.

I can't count the number of stories I've heard of guys that were married w/kids for years (or decades), before finally coming out.

Now that you've mentioned it and Bronco's post in the other thread about gay comedians, I must know if Nick Swardson is straight or gay. This is one funny ********* & I don't care how many times he says he might not be gay, he is so over-the-top flaming that I can't believe him.

*edit* Son of a bitch isn't filtered but the abbreviation is. What the heck does it alter the 6 character spelling to?

Relious conviction and intimate desires cannot be reduced to compulsion. In fact I think both are indicative NOT of some lack or void, but of positive knowledge about the world. It is too bad we have to pathologize either of them.

If one denies their intimate desires in favor of their faith, they are certainly compelled to do so by something, or for some reason. And vice-versa. Any choice we make involves compulsion to some degree. I wasn't implying that either was wrong or bad.
