What's new

Eric Bledsoe

I would like to bring him in next year as a backup to Mo. I don't know how I feel about him as a starter though.

Forget Bledsoe, I have a new vision for a pg future. Last night I had a dream, no really I did.

I was in the Jazz locker room before a game, a trainer was walking me around to introduce me to all the players. After shaking Enes' hand I turned to the right, there was a shorter player that I didn't recognize, he was not dressed to play, but he was smiling and happy to be with the team. I asked who he was--he introduced himself to me as Marquis Teague the new Jazz point gaurd. The trainer quickly cut him off and told me that nobody was supposed to know that yet, and the Jazz were waiting to announce it.

I thought I sensed sarcasm in the earlier post.

It was not sarcasm..... candrew was talking about offering the max to CHRIS PAUL.

I wouldn't be excited about that .. except as a project backup.

i am not a bledsoe fan, ill admit it. i think he is very one dementional. the kid can drive, thats for sure. he gets to the paint. his shooting % out side of the paint is terrible, and he has got to have one of the ugliest shots ive ever seen, it looks like charles barkleys golf swing.. he looks like he might be more suited as slasher SG... idk though just my opinion.

We must get Bledsoe before the rest of the NBA finds out...

He's on my fantasy team and for the minutes he plays he sure is dynamite!!!

I think Bledsoe forecasts to be a very good player in the future. He seems like the kind of guy who will do whatever to improve and with his "Lil' Bron" which is his nickname athleticism, he could end up being a stud. But trust me the league is watching the CP3 thing closely.. if CP3 resigns Bledsoe will quickly become a hot commodity this off season.

Damnit Zulu !!!

OTHER NBA teams read this board!

I realize you're kidding, but I wouldn't be surprised if scouts started tracking my fantasy team to get a leg up on who the next years break out players are going to be.

Agree with all that ..

So much of what a GM does (and thats what we are trying to do on these forums) is forecasting what I guy will become with practice and time. Some guys have low ceilings because of their size or athleticism or shot/handle/intangibles etc. But when you have all world athleticism that can't be matched, a defensive tenacity, and you are a hard worker with no noticeable flaws in your stroke you will become a better shooter. Remember Tony Parker used to not be a shooter... but when you looked at his shot he had good mechanics and tremendous athleticism so you knew he would pick it up with practice and dedication.

Ronnie Brewer is on the other end of the scale... he will work and work and work but will likely never become a shooter because of his flawed mechanics. On the athleticism front you can be Jimmer and a great shooter and diver in college but can you do that on the pro level against great athletes????

Living in an NFL city teams all the time find gems in small schools because they are looking at talent in a different way. They forecast combine results based on athleticism and then assess career, competition etc. For example the Chiefs drafted Jared Allen from Idaho State... he became a stud DE but he had a story... he was a top recruit but grades and knucklehead stuff prevented him from going to Florida or some place like that, so when we picked him up in the 4th round we got a steal.

Back to Bledsoe: He was a top recruit from his HS class, and at one point was one of the top recruits to declare for UK and was supposed to be the starter, but then Callipari got greedy and signed John Wall, and that relegated Bledsoe to second PG status... yet he was still good enough to go 18 even though in his Freshman year he had to share the ball with John Wall, Demarcus Cousins and others.

He forecasts to be a little bit of a later bloomer. I think he will sign a 4/32M deal with someone next summer after the trade and that team might have a stud young PG on their hands for $3-$4M less than Ty Lawson, Jrue Holiday etc type player.

We are excited about a pg that can't shoot the three or pass the ball...

ummm...

Maybe he can learn?..... or maybe not

Edit: just read blackhams post.... he explains quite well why we might be excited for bledsoe despite the flaws you mentioned
