Local Ties in the Connecticut school shooting today. (Emilie Parker Memorial Fund)

A former classmate of mine, Robbie Parker (Ben Lomond High School 2000) lost his daughter (Emilie Parker, 6) today in the school shooting in Connecticut. I am asking for your prayers and I am also promoting a Fund that has been set up for the family during this sudden tragedy. The Emilie Parker Memorial Account at America First Credit Union. Account #9056862

Please remember all the victims of today's tragedy in your prayers, specifically the Parker family.

It's crazy. I have not spoken with Robbie in over a decade. Yet today, I cannot think of anyone else. I cannot imagine the pain that he and his wife are going through. God Bless you for your prayers.

A Message from the Parker Family:

As we make the difficult preparations to bury our beloved daughter Emilie, we ask members of the media to allow us the time, space and privacy that we need to undergo this horrific ordeal. You can surely understand the unfathomable pain we are suffering, and we hope that you can respect our wishes at this time.

Thank you for your continued prayers and thoughts. In order to help us unite as a community and begin the long journey toward healing, the Emilie Parker Fund has been established. Proceeds will go to help all of the Sandy Hook Elementary families affected in whatever ways each family deems necessary. The victims will live forever in our hearts, and we hope to create a memorial—an enduring legacy—for them in Newtown as well as help rebuild and heal the shattered lives of all affected. For more information, you can visit emilieparkerfund.com.

We will have no further comments at this time

Man. Putting a face to one of the victims just makes it that much more difficult to comprehend. What a cute little girl. I cant imagine the grief of your friend.

This story is probably the worst national news I have ever heard. A lot of stories like these are sad but dont really hurt because of the sense of detachment. This honestly makes my heart ache for the children and their families. Im so sickened and mad about this. As everyone in the country Im sure is.

I am absolutely devastated by the tragic events. :( how can someone be so cruel and heartless. What kind of world do we live in? My prayers for those families.

A friend of mine knew Alyssa (the mom). Sad. I don't have any idea how I could handle that. I'm already having a hard time with it.

I am sick right now.

This is the only event like this I can remember where I didn't want to know anything about the victims. It is that horrible.

That man, mentally sick or not, has just added his name to the list of most evil people I've ever heard about. What a coward to go to an ELEMENTARY school and take innocent lives!

I think that all the stupid banter that will take place about gun control and politics because of this event will, in part, pin the responsibility for this in the wrong place. In my opinion this is not about tighter gun control. The truth is that we live in a modern society that is more concerned with Facebook, the Kardashians, and entertainment than it is with anything else. Self-gratification is the only important thing. The only way that I think this kind of thing can be fixed is by promoting and supporting stronger family structure. Sadly we create many of our own problems. I wish that I was more eloquent, and had something to back up my thoughts...

As a parent of a son set to start Kindergarten next year this totally freaks me out. I cannot even imagine my son being taken from me in such a way. This could have happened to any of us...

Where's this topic being linked from? There is a flood of viewers coming in. Obviously I think if any topic deserves the views, it's this one, just curious. Anyway, it looks like they should be getting plenty of money to help them out a little. Almost 100 k likes on that Facebook page? Nice.

All visitors to this site please feel free to take in the getting peed on topic while you are here.

I've got no idea.

I've got no idea.

Could be just some kind of news bot crawlers. Still an interesting spike though.

Edit: After a little Google sleuthing, this is the second link that comes up on Google for Emilie Parker Memorial Fund and they just had a press conference I guess where the fund's name was probably mentioned a few times. So that's probably it.
