Which player would you rather have next summer?

I'm inclined to say Calderon, but I trust GVC immensely and he pretty much hates him.

I may vote later. Neither are anything approaching ideal.

I agree. Not ideal.

But do we ever get an ideal situation in Utah?? lol

What is ideal next summer?

CP3 would be ideal...... extremely unlikely, but ideal nonetheless.

Neat draft pick? Michael Carter-Williams? Trey Burke? B.J. Young? And one of them works out? I guess you could keep one of those guys around to transition the younger guy in such a scenario, but chances are they'd just be perpetually buried and we will all pull our hair out until Calderon's/Mo's contract expires.

Neither. Realistically, the best PG we can get is going to come through trade, and that means one of our young guys will have to go. I'd be dangling Hayward or Burks, but I wouldn't rule out anybody if it brought back the right player.

They are so similar that it would eventually come down to the question of price and contract length. And I think that Calderon could be had for less, so Calderon it is.

I voted for Mo because I hate traffic cones.

I think Mo should play half of his minutes at the 2 and we should give Maynor another go. I know he has had his cone-like moments, but he's young and could be had right now for a pick.

Does anyone think Calderon could pull a Kidd and learn to shoot? He'd be a steal if.... Taking Calderon means accepting a point guard as the 4th-5th best player on the team. Not exactly Jazz ball. Mo is arguably top 3 on this team.
Mo has bootleg running through his veins. I love his fire. Hard for me to root against Mo IF he is the bottom starter on the team like Calderon would have to be for any meaningful success.

Calderon's a career average 39% 3 point shooter, 90% FT shooter, and 48% FG....his problem is defense

Really? I'll take a biff on this, but isn't that a knock? What's with not scoring much for a guy with good 3 %?

Literally any team in the league can have him today. Why no takers?

Defense.
He's an amazing shooter but doesn't look to shoot too often...I think he's more concerned about setting up a play.
Good rebounder for his position too (got a triple double this year when Lowry was out)

Also, Calderon is 31. So he's not future point gaurd material, but at least he's decent starting PG material.

The way I look at it is
Mo Williams defense isn't good. He has been actually really bad defending his man this year.
Is Calderon better at defense than Mo Williams. Probably not.

I see Mo Williams hurting the development of Kanter & Favors more than anything.

I would rather have a guy who can set up his teammates and be a dependable PG rather than Mo Williams who thinks he should shoot more than anyone on the team.

Is Calderon perfect no. But he would complement our current players well and he can be had for probably 5 million a year for 3-4 years.

I originally voted for mo, but reading through this thread and some other posters opinions (such as this one), i would like to change my vote for calderon.
