Murphy

I watched Kevin Murphy play on Friday and Saturday and came less than impressed. He shot the ball poorly, played crappy defense and did not look to me to be an NBA prospect. I've seen CJ, Almond, and Evans play in the DLeague and they looked like they had promise. With Murph I'm skeptical.

It could have been a couple of nights where he didn't have it, but if I were the Jazz and needed a point guard pronto regarding Mo I could see him hitting the waiver wire.

Why would he need to be waived? Jazz only have 14 signed and the NBA limit is 15. It just requires making another player inactive. Sign a PG and Corbin can just have Burks sit behind the bench in a suit since Alec would likely get a "DNP-Stupid Coach's Decision" anyway.

Wrong. Probably forgot about roger braille (aka Raja). He's still on the team payroll and counts against the 15 player cap. However, that doesn't change much because all they need to do is dump 'Raja' somehow and use the open spot for a point guard. Unfortunately, it's easier to drop an non-guaranteed second round pick than a player on the last year of a guaranteed multi year contract, so Kevin might still get the shaft.

I wouldn't give up on anyone not even half way through their first season.

This is discouraging though

Wow! I can't believe I had forgotten about Roger. Yep, I can see it now. Jazz will waive Murphy in order to keep punishing Braille. Murphy will then go on to have a Mo-like career and KOC will make up some lame excuse about not being able to let Roger go because there was a chance they'd need his veteran leadershiop down the stretch.

I have been watching quite a few of Murphy's games on Youtube. He as played really well in most of them. This last weekend was pretty bad. But playing against the Toros a week ago he was the bighorns best defender on the out side and has been good at getting into the lane and dishing. I have like what I have seen from Murphy so far. (this last weekend being the execption more than the rule)

This sucks. Supposedly the best draft in ages, and we didn't get any piece of the pie. Stupid tankers.

Maybe he was sick, slightly injured or it was just one of those nights. I came away from both games thinking this guy does not have NBA skills. But if others have watched him more I will defer.

In the D-League he is probably playing like he did in college, the star who is relied on to score 1-on-1 and such. His role would be different in the NBA, he could flourish and be better. You never know, the D-League is useless for anything besides keeping players in shape.

Correct. As far as I'm concerned the D-League is mostly useless. This league is one Allstar game after another with out allstars. It's not a good indicator of NBA talent. Some do well some don't. Shouldn't put too much stock in ones performance in this league, good or bad.
