Detroit has now joined Dallas in talking about the physical nature of Jazz basketball. Now Detroit wasn't complaining but simply compared the Jazz style to the 90's style play.

Do you think the Jazz are aphysical, tough team?

I think certain players certainly fit that bill.
 
From what I've seen, our scrappiest acts are on the offensive glass. But a truly physical team sets way better picks than we do.
 
I think Kanter, Favors, Carrolle and Hayward can all be tough scrappy players. I think Burks and Millsap occasionally play this way. I think Jefferson, Marvin, Mo, and Foye are soft. I think Tinsley and Watson are tough guys that both play physical.

Millsap only plays physical when going for rebounds. On defense he's soft.
Burks is Physical on offense on defense I'm not sure.

Yeah the second unit is much more physical than the starters. I wonder if that ever throws teams off. It would be like playing two different teams at once. You have a offensive minded soft team and then the second unit comes in and you are in a slobberknocker for everything.
 
i like to think our jazz team is tough.... but i am not so sure, some games they show up strong others they look like they dont care they are getting creamed and having bad calls called on them. maybe they are taking the approch of the refs are going to make the call anyway so i might aswell make it real.
 
Jazz are taking on the identity of their coach--tough and gritty defenders, doing whatever it takes to win, and waiting to get traded again.
 
It's not easy to be tough under the new rules and approach today's NBA comparing with 90's. Also, it's 2 ways to be tough. One is physical and the other's mental. So even though jazz have some scrappy players physically, most of them are softie mentally. They do not know what to do when the game is tied or they can not control their nerves on the road when things do not work well for them.

There's no way this team is as tough as the 90's jazz, but they look more aggressive now then to start the year, even Al seems to be more aggressive.

I think Favors and Kanter could fit on that 90s team physicality wise. Especially with the way Favors has been more physical lately.
 
A tough-guy reputation isn't made in just one or two games. The Jazz have a long way to go until I consider this team tough.

I do not thinkt he Jazz are a "tough" team but I think we have some tough players. Favors, Kanter, Carroll, Watson, Tinsley. Sap, Hayward and Burks are on occassion.
 
Obviously, we, as fans, have a much better perspective than stupid opposing players. What would they know?
