This is why I am a fan of the Greatest Point Guard of All-Time, John Stockton.

I am sure that even John Stockton is a flawed human being. Some advice is to stop putting these guys on pedestals and then they might not eventually fall off them.

Blasphemer.
I once saw Stockton walk across the Great Salt Lake.

Nobody's 100% perfect (OK except Stockton), and no athletes should be put on those pedestals. But guys like Stock, Malone, Hornacek, David Robinson, etc are a rare breed we are unlikely to see many more of. That's partly why I like Hayward .... he seems to be from the Stockton mold.
Drose? Steve Nash? Tim Duncan? Adrian Peterson? Drew Brees? Peyton Manning? Eli Manning? Arian Foster? Aaron Rogers?
There are plenty of hard working, dominate, and pretty awesome athletes out there. I'm not seeing a "tremendous" decline in "morality" or "work ethic." There were lazy bums back in the day. Wilt? Dude would be a horrible example of how to treat women. Idiots? Derrick Coleman anyone? Dennis Rodman? Just like we have idiots today like Cousins. Hard workers? I would place Kobe Bryant's work ethic up there with Malone's and Stockton's. Say what you want about the Black Mamba, lazy bum he is not. Same goes for freaking Drose and AP. Arian Foster? Undrafted and is one of the best RBs in the NFL. Aaron Rogers? Squeaky clean image, solid leader, SB winner, hilarious personality, and franchise QB. Tim Duncan? What has this guy done other than take care of business on the court?
True, we shouldn't worship these guys as much as we do. However, I see plenty of admirable athletes out there. Unlikely to see more of? Doubt it. See plenty of guys comparable to Malone and Stockton. Tim Duncan, Drose, Black Mamba, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and AP just to name a few. Heck, The "pride" of Weber State seems pretty tough to me. He's killing it up in Portland. If he keeps this up he'll be a perennial all-star
