serious non-homer & non-hater question

Aside from the games versus LA teams (where I can go to my local watering hole and see the game on huge hi-def) I've kept my promise to stop watching Jeffy-Foye ball, so this question isn't filled with the angst of an amped up fan. I know what this team is.

The question:
Can you name one thing Corbin did to help his team tonight? I watched every minute, and I couldn't come up with an answer. Our offense looks un-drilled (which, given that we've had plenty of practice time, is 90% on the coach). Our sub patterns and the "sets" we ran were predictable and didn't play to any matchup advantage. Etc.

Please, help a brother out.

There was a time in the 3rd quarter I actually thought we put out a line-up that matched up well with the Lakers defensively and we got the lead to 3, but they caught fire from 3 and it was gone. Other than that NOTHING!
 
Corbin didn't do anything crazy awesome, but this game was more on the players. I thought the Foye on Kobe thing was dumb, but I think tonight was just a night of them being hot and us being cold.

I think it is pretty clear this thread isn't primarily about the players. It's about Corbin's preparation for the game and his game-time adjustments. If players were sucking, that only adds emphasis to my question! What did he do to help them? How did he shake things up?

He played Favors 24 minutes rather than his usual 22.
He limited Al's minutes to 29 rather than 40.
He gave Hayward 22 minutes to keep him hungry and give him motivation "to work and get better."
He was also very vociferous on the sidelines.
 
To be truthful, I am very rarely impressed with what Corbin does anymore. I was tempted not to watch this game because I knew Corbin was going to piss me off.
 
Foye on Bryant pairing was worse than dumb. He was scoring at will. It's not like we don't have the players. I would have put Demare on Bryant and play Hayward at the same time to get the scoring. Bryant was doing everything tonight. Passing. Scoring. The works.
 
He was himself. He did nothing of value and contributed nothing to the game at all. He did play Burks instead of Carrolle but considering it's Watson, Jeff and Millsap that were terrible that doesn't seem to be anything.

I agree to a certain extent, as we also had players that were on fire, and they got less minutes then those players that were cold, The coach should play the hot players and sit the cold players down.

I agree here and that's why I'm not super frustrated with tonight because the Lakers just played better and wanted/needed the win more. Ty still sucked again though. Like you said anyone with half a brain could've seen that we would get abused having Randy go up against Kobe. Should've adjusted and had Hayward start the game. Then Foye would've matched up with Meeks or whoever and would've been more successful on both ends. Kanter plays 6 meaningful minutes, absolutely no logic behind that given the way he's played. Going with Sap/Al against Gasol/Howard. Sap was struggling all night, but putting 7' Gasol on him gives him zero chance to succeed. Watson playing the entire 2nd quarter, again no logic there. etc. etc.
 
Getting crazy about the subs and the in game coaching is worrying about the icing on a turd. He did OK with that tonight. Burks was subbed in early in a good matchup with Meeks. He tried to pick on Clark with Hayward which only sorta worked, but was the right call. He's slow on the TO like Jerry was, but I don't think it was make or break.

He doesn't know how to coach offense. He tried to exploit the Sap/Clark matchup early, it didn't work. He went to Al after the angry TO, and it didn't work. The problem wasn't those calls, it was that we don't have anything behind them. When Al or Sap in the post doesn't work, the TEAM doesn't know what to do. We have no reset in this offense. And THAT is why Ty sucks, not the endless this guy or that guy playing too much.
 
Marvin should've played Kobe, Favors, Jeffy, Sap, and who gives a **** at the point. Why we didn't match size with size until 5 minutes left in the game is beyond me.
 
...what's a matter with you guys? It was obvious even to the most casual observer....that Corbin was pacing the team.....for the big win at home tonight against the Pacers!

This! With Emphasis. I truly believe under Corbin, Durant would have been nothing but a decent scoring 17-18 min per game dude for 2-3 years, and would have never made it to his current level of play. He was a volume shooter, and his defense was nothing to write home about at that time, and he was a turnover prone gangly youngster. And that just references TC's treatment of youth. He has trouble motivating (slow starts, lack of defensive intensity), he has trouble adjusting to in game situations on both ends, his substitutions are not only predictable, they lack intelligence. He pairs the wrong people together; I used to think he was just testing the "two negatives make a positive" theory, I was wrong. Utah has a very versatile team and plenty of talent. Any homeless man, with Ty's assistants, could have the same record Ty has. Why he still has a J.O.B. is perplexing.
 
Haters gonna hate.

Corbin called a time out when it started out 10-2 instead of waiting until it was 24-3. He fixed things in the huddle and the Jazz got back into the game immediately.

...so what your saying is "What does a guy have to do to get fired around here?" or "This job could get done better.....if nobody was doing it!"
