George needs car recommendations

I am probably going to be given $3500 for my car that was just written off (some ******* 19 year old decided to smash his truck into the back of mine), presuming I don't suffer irreversible neck damage due to the fact that I haven't gotten a single physic treatment because he is avoiding contact from me and the police because he doesn't want his insurance to find out.

But seriously, I need a new car. My preference is European cars. I like impressing the ladies. I also like smaller engines, sedans, hatchbacks, the like.

Any recommendations? Any car manufacturers I should stay away from? Any models you had when you were younger that you loved?

Dont get a jetta either...

This thread is off to a great start

Audi A3 2.0T ... It's a hunk of **** after about 60k miles. But it fits your criteria.

Personally, I'd go Acura, Honda, or Lexus—in that order—before looking at anything else.

Why no Jetta? I was looking at the Jetta TDI's for my next car. VWs are a blast to drive. If money were no issue I'd go buy a GTI today.

And if you want affordable dependability, I still don't think you can go wrong with Honda. Not European I know, but those suckers stand the test of time.

So the price range is 3,500 total?

I could maybe go up to 5 grand, which essentially my ceiling. I realize that so little money means I can't really be a chooser, but I wsa just wondering if anyone has history with older, european cars that didn't break down consistently after 100K miles. My previous car was a Benz, which was ****ing indestructible. Might buy another one, but Im scared that my car was just a fluke-- when really, 9/10 cars of my make might actually be lemons.

Thanks for the contributions everyone, srsly. George loves y'all. Ill see if I can skim through some Hondas without vomiting

My father drives a 97 Passat TDI. The thing goes up to 750 miles per tank (not a typo), and has had no problems since he's purchased it. He still drives it on a daily basis.

AWD or at least front wheel drive .. in Canarado.

Boi-stop.

I've been driving RWD every winter since I got my license. I'll be aight.
