Milking the gravy train

Yep. exactly. From ESPN

NBA promo designers

One upside of no stars being traded? Teams can keep all those billboards, commercials and programs. In other words, Utah can keep milking that Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson gravy train

And this

LOSERS

Utah Jazz

The Jazz didn't upgrade their woeful backcourt and instead decided to keep Millsap and Jefferson even though Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter deserve a shot. This gets us to an inevitable shortcoming of trade analysis: We'll never know all the offers a team turned down. So perhaps Utah's front office was smart to hold onto its overcrowded frontcourt rather than trade them for 40 cents on the dollar. But I'm skeptical. One thing we do know is that front offices tend to subjectively overvalue their own players, so I have a feeling that the Jazz may have received objectively fair offers for Millsap and Jefferson. We'll never know. But don't be stunned if they try to justify standing pat at the deadline by overpaying Millsap and/or Jefferson this summer.

Eh. Let's not forget that ESPN considers Granger for Hayward fair, for utah. They're not paying attention to us and think we should just take on bad contracts so a bigger-market team can have a new piece. If we couldn't get a young guy like Bledsoe, without giving up a substantial young piece on our end, then i'm glad we'll just wait out the season. I'd rather suffer through a 1/3 of a season with Millsap and Jefferson then a maxed Josh Smith or whatever.

Jazz would rather have the flexibility in the summer. So unless they got a steal it wouldn't make sense.

This. There's no way of knowing what offers they got. I bet Clippers asked for Bledsoe + Haywar/Burks/Kanter. If that's the case they can just take that offer and stuff it where the sun don't shine.

Rep'd.

I'm not a big fan of ESPN but isn't this paragraph in parallel with what most of us said about no-move decision of the FO?

I'm getting really pumped for the draft for the first time since the D-Will one. I mean I watched all the other ones but I never got toooo nto them. Maybe I'm just a sucker for PGotF implications. Also maybe I'm psychic.

Always "wait till the deadline" "wait till the draft" "wait till the offseason" . Enoughs enough. Just admit our franchise is run by inept, money grubbing meisers.

That woeful backcourt just kicked Golden State's a$$.

Also, they're mixing metaphors. You milk a cash cow, and you ride a gravy train. Milking a gravy train just sounds wrong.

GS will miss the playoffs and get lucky with a top three pick, thus giving us just one first this year. And not a high one either.

I've listened this for long enough. Please, please, please answer me what's wrong with this plan:

- Favors & Hayward are not ready as franchise player
- If we can sign Millsap to a reasonable amount (less than $10m per year - do it)
- If not, we sign someone like Splitter or Landry to 3 year contracts in the range of $5-$7m per year. Splitter for example can start next to Favors, Kanter off the bench.
- Once Favors & Hayward are ready to dominate, we'll need the cap space to pay them big $ anyway
- That'll be approx. 2-3 years' time - BOOK it.

This plan will ensure that we have enough $ to pay Favors, Hayward & Kanter once they're legit starters & tearing up the league.

I don't know about you, but I'm excited about our future. Yes it'll be 2-3 years away still, but that's the process and these things usually takes time.

Um. They need to extend Favors and Hayward this summer or let them become RFA next summer. The waiting is over.

How much do we extend them for this summer?
