Mo Williams

Agree. Unlike most I like Mo and have no problem with him being our starter the next three or so years.
I just don't think Mo is a PG. He's best suited to play a Terry like role when he was with Dallas. Mo as a starting PG means you have a sub par rotation at PG.

His stats with the clippers (82 games) suggest that he is most effective as a SG. I would not be surprised if the Jazz find out the same in the long run.

Which means we don't need him. Foye, Burks, Hayward are all Better SG's than MO.

Ok, how about this: Mo starts as he obviously will, but with his three point shooting on the floor, Foye can be moved to the bench and either Hayward or Burks can start at the 2. That spreads the shooting into the second unit and gets a better passer in the starting lineup to help Mo with the playmaking. As for which will start at the 2, it almost would have to be Hayward because he is a more complete player than Burks right now, and there is his slight seniority which seems to matter to Corbin for some reason. Besides, this allows Burks to be the primary backup at point.

And this is one of the things that bug me about the Jazz. It shouldnt take them "the long run" to figure it out. I thought these people are supposed to know their stuff. If your average basketball fan can see it, then why the hell does it take them forever to figure it out, or even try it in the first place.

Mo can shoot. Thats it. I'd offer him about 4 mil a year for 2-3 years. No more. He isn't a must have.

Hayward has just flat out put in better performances coming off the bench and there'd be no way Burks would start over Foye (which I'm mostly okay with). Burks minutes will come down a bit I fear, but it should be easy to find time for the guys in our backcourt who deserve them. The problem in the starting line-up is that we're still going to see Marvin starting along with the Sap/Al combo. Both of those aspects don't work, have never worked, but let's keep going with it.

My biggest beef with Mo is 22% FG in clutch.

This! MO single handedly cost us a couple games with miserable decisions and shots, and I would like to see Burks start at point with MO backing him up. Earl and Jamal are great to have around...as coaches.

Heh. Burks starting at the point. I would be ecstatic, but I doubt it happens.

Mo wants to be the hero, but I hope he has learned something from watching from the bench.

Doubtful. The primary focus of the starters is still feeding the big men, so it makes sense to have your best 3pt shooters start with them. Hayward shouldn't start because he is the playmaker for the 2nd unit. Him and Burks appear to be pretty dynamic together. The best case scenario (and most realistic of the ones the fans want) is an early sub-out of Foye for Burks/Hayward, then have Foye sub in when Mo subs out.

Unfortunately burks or Carrol will be the odd man out as long as Jamal, earl and Marvin are healthy!!

Side note...

I would love to see Mo,Burks,Hayward,Favors,Kanter line up!!

If I remember, Mo was top 7 or 8 in assists per game. His shooting %'s weren't mind popping, but they were good, and he's a decent defender, and Tinsley makes him look like a shutdown defender. Sign him three years and do what ever it takes to get Burke. Mo's not the long term solution, but there's not many better stop gap pg's either. I know Mo didn't like coming off the bench in LA, but two years down the road I can see him being fine playing both some backup pg, and sg. For me Mo is a must sign!
