I get that Corbin is human and makes mistakes, but why are we hating on Corbin so much. I would say that Marvin Williams might need to be benched, but other than that, the moves he made last night make sense. Consider this

Kanter helped lead the Jazz back from like 15 down. The Jazz were like plus 13 with KAnter on the floor in his final Stint

Kanter went 4-6 from the field in his last stint, posting 12 points, 7 rebounds in the 4th quarter and the overtime.

Favors was playing well and I liked what i saw last night.

But It wasn't even a lack of a defensive presence down low that killed us.

What killed us was J.J., Monta, and Jennings hitting big time JUMP shots.

The game could have gone either way

Had millsap made that last free throw he took in regulation, Jazz win

And if the Jazz would have one, we wouldn't even be having this conversation

I think I could name 15 coaches in the NBA that are not as good as he is.

Plus, we have over achieved the last two seasons!!

I think we should give Corbin a break.
 
I was pissed long before the final outcome. As were most of the 20 people watching the game with me. You don't bench the best player for 3 quarters for the entire 4th quarter. You don't continue to start ineffective players for 5 months (Or however long they have been playing this year) and you don't continue to start a PG that can't shoot from 2" let alone 20'.

There is one current coach in the league that "may" be worse. And that is Keith Smart. Everybody else in the league has a better coach than us. A lot better coach than us.
 
Corbin relies on vets to much.

Corbin makes poor, rigid substitutions.

Corbin cannot make in game adjustments (see lack of subs in OT games)

Corbin limits the young players who are the future.

Corbin makes the right decisions when he is forced to do so thru injuries or what not.
 
Things that killed us

1. Having 3 starters go 0-15, its a fluke, it sucks, can't plan for that

2. Having Jennings and Ellis learn how to be efficient over night - a lot of that can be blamed on our wing D that included Watson, Burks, Carrol, Hayward, Williams ... They scored on everyone

3. Carroll had a ton of mental errors. Why the hell would you leave Reddick wide open in the corner for an uncontested 3? Let Jennings should an out of rhythm wing 3 for hells sake. Ellis beat him back door a few times as well.

4. Millsap has to hit that free throw

5. Burks was terrible in OT and gave Jennings a pretty good look on that 3 to tie it

6. Bad clock management, attribute this to being really young and not having a real PG to take control

7. Probably could have called a foul on the last Hayward drive in regulation


Not everything is Corbins fault.

In reference to the PG situation, Who else could he Start? Mo is out both Tinsley and Watson can't Shoot. Plus, I think SLoan would do the same thing and he might not even be playing Alec at PG.

Sloan was a top 5 coach about every year he coached after stockton and Malone

Jerry Sloan was also Guilty of about all of these, Wasn't he?

This makes sense. I am curious though, why do you feel Burks was Bad in OT? I must have missed it.

Foye and Burks are both better than Tinsley and Watson. Either of them could slid to PG and be an upgrade. Guess what they can both shoot. Play them together with Hayward and it's even better. You could get away with Tinsley and Watson getting a combined 8-10 minutes tops if you did this.

I was not the biggest Sloan fan. But one thing he did do is reward the players putting forth effort. You can't tell me Watson, Tinley, Marvin and Al are putting forth effort.

Yes, he was. And how many championships does Sloan have? Jerry was a good coach - and his longevity translates that into greatness - but he had very serious flaws. In any other organization, Sloan would not have lasted as long as he did. In fact, there were a few times even Larry H. came close to firing Jerry.

The one thing Jerry DID have was a great offense. For many years, the Jazz were at or near the top in FG%. Does Ty even have a system? All I've seen is throw it into Al, have him take a shot or throw it back out, throw it in again, and then someone take a panic shot if he can't put it up.
 
Corbins offense: (he seriously said this) throw it into Al, throw it out, if the ball gets back to him he's suppose to take the shot because "there probably wont be a better one available." All his offense is is getting it to Al.

1. Coaches fault 100%. They should not be starting.
2. Maybe having your best defender on the court in the 4th quarter could have helped the wings trust that if they play up they have help behind.
3. Mistakes happen when you are tired from having a coach that forgets to make substitutions.
4. Millsap rarely makes 2 FT's when they matter late in games. But your right I'll put that one all on Millsap.
5. Mistakes happen.
6. Isn't it the coaches job to teach the players clock management. This is not the 1st time the team has been lost at the end of games and quarters. It happens with Mo, Tinsley and Watson as often as the youth.
7. Can't control the refs.
 
Over acheived? Sweet Jesus. There are about 10 games this season that were lost as a result of coaching. Over acheiving my ***.
