Don't look now, but Kanter and Burks are developing without minutes...

I just wanted to point out that I was right and a lot of you are wrong.

99% of Jazz fans say "The young guys will never develop without playing experience!!!"

You know what? You are wrong! You want proof? Look at the way Kanter has played in the past week. Look at the way Alec Burks played the last few month. Somehow they got better without getting very many minutes!

Players get better by practicing and working hard, not by being handed out minutes. Carroll didn't develop his jump shot by getting minutes.

Game experience helps, but it is not everything. It helps polish off the game, but first you have to put in the work.

I'm of the opinion that having Big Al around as a mentor to Kanter is better than Kanter getting 30 minutes a night.

Well we better shut them down for the rest of the year then so they can develop even more!!

He has a point. You obviously need both things though. I view it in levels. You practice to reach a level, but you can't really surpass that level until you get the game time to master the skills you learn in practice.

So you think had they played more minutes they wouldn't be as good? Because that's the only way this argument holds up.

I agree with you on most things. I do agree on the big al being a mentor thing, but I just dont like it. I want to see the young guys play. But that will come next year, I believe. Anyway, I am sick of everyone complaining that the young guys are not developing. Its like they think the guys are going to just suck since they havent been given the reigns yet. They are ready now, but the only reason they are is because they have been taught well.

Imagine how good Kevin Durant would have been if he could have sat behind some crappy vet, OKC fought for an 8th seed, OKC missed out on Harden and Westbrook...

He would be the BEST EVER!!!!
