Are There Any Pit Bull Owners On Jazzfanz.com?

Is it okay to call your female pit-bull a "bitch" or is that going to be construed as sexist and get OB's panties in a bunch?

just the name pit bull seems sort of sexist to me

maybe the female of the species should be called a pit cow?

There are many that appear sexist.

One in particular is the Xoloitzcuintli, but there are many variations on the "bull".
I will leave it up to you to decide on some of these:
Toy Fox Terrier
Whippet
Springer Spaniel
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Mastiff
Miniature Pinscher
Komondor
Leonberber
Cocker Spaniel

It goes on and on. Can we get a petition going to get some name changes to Chris, or Pat?

in my home coutnry growing up all i head was pitbulls and german shepherds.
pitbulls are the sweatest dogs ever.
we trained them to be silent.
they would let anybody enter our property. but will not let any one leave unless we are chaperoning the person to the gate.

it was awesome.
do you have any idea how epic it was coming home seeing someone stuck on our property. trying to burglarize our home.
everytime he tried to go to fence or gate.
they would attack him.

how terrifying would that be.
not knowing when the owners are coming home stuck on their property

Sounds like this owner has turned his dog into an aggressive animal. I would talk to the police department and see about filling a dangerous animal complaint and see what your options are. Sadly the owner is to blame and the dog will pay the price.

Perhaps talk to other neighbors and if there is a HOA see if there are rules against it. Dog would only come after my girls once and then they'd never bother anyone again. Then I'd sue the owners.

I don't get this sentiment. They're animals & we should deal with them as such. It doesn't bother me putting down an aggressive dog any more than it bothers me slaughtering a cow for the beef. Getting rid of dogs is business with no room for sentiment.

They're like loaded guns. Follow correct safety procedures and it's ok.
Most deaths attributed to pit bulls are caused by parents or grandparents losing sight of the toddler under their care. Pet owners really need to get a handle on their bees and wasps. Those are far more dangerous.

Seriously, I would never own a pure-bred pit bull. There's just too much room for error with a child. That said, we have a lab who has a little bit of pit in her. And she's extremely gentle. But she's also a rescue dog who had been abused (we can tell by her timidity, a few scars. and extreme cowering). She's not good for much...doesn't fetch, chase balls, hates the water. But we love her anyway.

I think bad supervision is epidemic, but not relevant to my point here. Even so I'd be interested in your data on this if you have it.
