What's new

kurt kragthorpe hits the nail on the head

So if that is your opinion than why can't the conclusion be that the Jazz are tanking via coaching (letting him learn to see if he's good enough to keep and if not find another one) while the team is young and not supposed to be good. Last year over achieved this year under achieved.
So instead of going through the dumping vets only playing young'ins to get bad they put in Corbin who according to what I'm reading lost way more games then the players ever could lose.

See the Jazz tank like people want and those same people still complain because it's not the tank the way they want.
I have never said they should tank. I said that they should play the young guys because they are the superior players. It is far from the same thing. We may or may not be worse with my idea. But the one thing we would not be is exactly the same. Which was shown to not be good enough.

Marvin Williams is playing tonight. Ahead of Carroll. Where are you hartsock? Defend this decision please.

Sorry bud, I was away from a computer. They both are blah, both a epitome of averageness to below averageness. Carrol just gets a pass because he was a D leaguer.

Carrolle gets a pass because he hustles and is the superior player on the court. Marvin while not as bad as some are saying is not good either.

If they were both d league call ups Marvin would be the better player. Carrol is shooting 28% from 3, Marvin is shooting 33%. Marvin is a much better on ball defender, Carrol takes more risks and makes some flashy plays but he doesn't play smart and gets killed when he is guarding someone who isn't retarded and knows how to find the open spot when Carrol gambles off of him and gets lost. Carrol is fun to watch though so I can see why he is a fan favorite, but the fact of the matter is he isn't very good. Neither is Marvin but he gets killed because he was such a high pick.

Ah, hindsight is nice, we are all so smart now. No promise that any other coach would have done things different and if they had, they might have made other mistakes that Corbin didn't.
I hope the Jazz let him go and find someone new, but blaming him for losses is silly, IMO, with no promise that it would have been different with someone else. Its all a guessing game. YES, I know some of the mistakes seem obvious. Yes, you can nitpick this one and that one and say so and so would never have made that mistake. BUT, they probably would have made another mistake and we would over all be in the same place. There are a couple, maybe 3-4 coaches who are head and shoulders above the rest. All the rest are similar, wouldn't matter. PLAYERS win and lose games. I know coaches 'put them in a position to win'. If someone else makes a 3 earlier in the game, the winning layup by the other team doesn't happen. Its all a big hindsight is 20/20 thing, sorry.

Corbin's biggest failure, TO ME, is not playing the young guys more so we would actually be hopeful for improvement next year. NOW we get to hope maybe next year they get time to get better when we should know by now IF they are what we want or not.

I blame him for gambling our future to make the playoffs ... and failing. I blame him for restricting Kanter's minutes, when he showed he deserved much more. I blame him for Burk's DNP-CDs, after Burks showed so much promise in the pre-season. I blame him for NEVER making adjustments to his lineup to start the 3rd. I blame him for playing Millsap too much and Favors too little. And I blame him for his biggest failure as a coach: Foye's 27.3 mpg on .401 fg% and zero defense.

All I know is I have to agree with Batman's assessment of the season in his sig. I humbly accept the MVP award and thank all of you for your role (albeit very, very small) in helping me achieve it.

Agree with you there. How long did he stick with Foye and Marvin in the starting lineup when both were struggling. Foye I can PERHAPS understand. He was hot early, but at his age, you expected him to eventually falter given all that playing time and all that chucking. But Marvin has been a disaster in the Alfense since Day #1. In fact, I blame Corbin for Marvin's failure. Marvin needs a few plays run for him to get him going. But the Jazz did NOTHING. It was all-Al, all the time. And that's 100% on Ty!
